The goal of this meditation is to reconnect us to the meaning of creativity and our beliefs around our own creative ability.

I will guide you through the meaning of creativity,

Our innate abilities to be creative,

And I will invite you to get curious around how your body feels during this meditation.

And as a reminder,

There is no wrong or right way to meditate.

I just invite you to get curious as we go through this meditation experience today.

So,

Let's begin by finding a comfortable,

Relaxing position.

Sitting in a chair or laying down.

If you're sitting in a chair,

I invite you to place your feet planted flat on the floor,

Your back upright in a comfortable position,

And placing your hands faced up on your lap.

If you are laying down,

I invite you to point your feet outward and laying your arms flat a few inches away from your sides.

And when you're ready,

You can gently allow your eyes to close.

With every meditation,

We want to begin by settling ourselves in with three big deep breaths.

And I will take these breaths with you.

I invite you to fill your belly up with as much air as possible on the inhale and try to relax any tension on the outward exhale.

So,

We'll start with our first nice big deep breath in through your nose.

Exhaling any tension.

Taking a second full breath in,

Filling up your belly with air.

And a long breath out.

Last breath.

Full breath in.

A long breath out.

Allowing the breath to return back to normal.

Breathing in and out through your nose here.

Now I invite you to turn your focus on the sensations in your body.

Seeing how your body feels today.

Taking a moment here to scan your body from your head to your toes.

Seeing if you notice any areas of tension or any areas of calm.

Where does it live in the body?

Does it have a shape?

Where does it begin?

Where does it end?

If you're not noticing either,

That's also okay.

Now shifting your focus to zoom out a little bit and focusing on our body as a whole.

And I invite you to see if you feel any sensations as we explore the meaning of creativity.

Creativity means the use of one's imagination to produce original ideas.

In our minds,

We often associate creativity a lot with artistic abilities such as painting and drawing,

Writing poetry.

And so often we rule out describing ourselves as creative if we don't have these skills.

And that belief simply isn't true.

We see creativity every day.

Whether you're a teacher looking for new ideas to freshen up your curriculum or you're a manager at a company looking for new ways to make your team feel connectedness.

Continuing to focus on your body as a whole and see if you feel anything when I say,

You are a natural born creative.

You are a natural born creative.

Can you feel any sensations?

Maybe your body is rejecting or embracing this belief.

Either way,

It's true.

A widely cited study found that children are born creative but lose their creative confidence as they transition through life and adulthood.

Continuing to focus on your body as a whole and see if you feel anything when I say,

Creativity is a muscle you can exercise and strengthen.

Creativity is a muscle that you can exercise and strengthen.

Did you feel any sensations this time?

Did your body reject or embrace this mantra?

Either way,

This one is also true.

The founders of one of the largest design firms in the world said,

One prerequisite for achieving creative confidence is the belief that your innovation skills and capabilities are not set in stone.

And creative confidence is like a muscle.

It can be strengthened and nurtured through effort and experience.

Often times,

The shortage of ideas isn't the uncomfortable part of the creativity process.

It can usually stem from three things.

The fear of trying.

The fear of failing.

The fear of being seen,

Judged that your ideas might be wrong or dumb or silly or too radical.

And these are valid fears to have.

All new innovators were thought to be crazy at some point.

Thomas Edison with light.

Steve Jobs with the Apple computer.

The Wright brothers with planes.

No one thought we could fly.

Let's take another big deep breath together.

A big deep breath in on the inhale.

And a long exhale out.

You are a natural born creative.

Creativity is a muscle you can exercise and strengthen.

And despite fear,

You have the courage to put your ideas out there.

I invite you to explore today what areas in your life would you like to be more creative or have more confidence to be creative.

This could be at work,

This could be your business,

At home,

Any side projects.

And I'm always happy to explore these with you.

Before coming back,

Bringing your attention to the space around you.

Noticing any sounds in the space.

Start to bring movement to your hands and your toes.

If it helps,

You can also imagine the space in your mind.

And when you're ready,

You may gently open your eyes.

As always,

I am filled with joy and honor that you have trusted me to guide you on this journey.

Thank you for sharing your meditation space and practice with me.

Use this meditation whenever you need it.

I encourage you to continue being curious about your creative beliefs,

Where they might stem from,

And how you might be able to strengthen your creative confidence.

And I'm always happy to answer any questions.

Thank you again for sharing your space with me.
