And we're here,
We're back,
We're back on the Wild Becoming Podcast.
And as I sit here and I sip my tea.
As the sun glimmers down on me on my tea I'm so reminded of what I am doing here.
I'm so reminded of why I even do this podcast,
Why I even show up.
Why I feel the need to speak these words to you.
Just before I came down to speak with you today,
I was giving my son a bottle.
And as he was feeding,
He just touched the tip of my finger.
In the softest way.
And in that moment,
I was so reminded of why I do this.
They deserve a better world.
They deserve a safe world.
They deserve a truthful world.
They deserve a world full of faithfulness and love and joy.
They deserve the world.
As the way that they came into it.
They deserve to live unchanged.
They deserve all of the things that they were given on the day that they were born.
Each and every one of us deserve that.
Each and every one of us deserve to live safe.
Each and every one of us deserve to feel love in our lives.
Each and every one of us deserve it all.
And all of it was given on the day we were born.
And so.
What are we doing here?
Why are you here with us?
Why are you here with me instead of watching TV?
Instead of scrolling social media?
Instead of just being somewhere else.
Why are you here?
Well,
I think that you're here for the same reason that I'm here,
And that's because we have chosen to walk the path.
But not just any path.
This is our chosen path.
And there's some elements to it that are important,
Right?
We're going to fly together,
But we're not going to fly so high that we don't know how to ground ourselves again.
Right?
We want to touch the light.
Friends and I have been talking so much lately about how the light this year is like when you walk on this earth.
It is so bright.
It has never felt brighter.
Is there a reason?
Again another mystery.
Just feel into it.
It's that golden summer that we don't want to come to an end.
It's that sunrise or that sunset that we could stay in forever.
And yet on the outside it will come to an end.
Here in Calgary,
Canada,
I can already feel the chill in the air.
I live in a place where we have four seasons and there's something beautiful to it.
I used to wish that I lived,
You know,
In somewhere that was hot all year round and,
You know,
Maybe one day we'll be those little snowbirds that take off when the weather gets cold.
But right now it teaches us so much.
Those seasons are so quick.
And we have to just jump in and see what's there.
And so what is this chosen path that you and I are on?
This is the path of balance and purpose.
This is the path of unraveling the gifts we were given on the day we were born.
This is the path of an embodiment of the spirit.
This is the path of going through the process of healing with one another.
It's that protected time that is given by God.
So that we can heal our heart,
Our mind,
Renew the mind.
And embody more of our highest selves.
Our soul.
It's this rewiring of the body,
The mind,
And the spirit.
And when we allow this time to come here to this space together,
This is golden time.
It's like finding a brick of gold together.
You don't have more than me and I don't have more than you.
We're just meeting each other here.
We're discovering something together.
Then we go out into the world.
And we live that integration.
It's this unraveling of creativity in how one moment together can shape the rest of our entire lives.
In the way that we create life because we create life.
Hmm.
I mean,
Life was already created.
Let's get that straight.
But we manifest.
And not in the way that has been very typical out there lately.
Everyone's wanting to become a little Zelda.
Or a little Merlin the wizard.
Or a little witchy witchy.
No.
That's not the type of manifestation that we are interested in.
It's co-creation that we want.
We want to create with the creator of everything.
Because when we do,
Magic unfolds.
We want to go to the depths of the ocean to know ourselves.
Why?
Bye.
For me,
It's curiosity.
And also just beauty.
But as we know,
The depths of the ocean can be a dark place.
And so sometimes we just like to stay on the surface and that's okay too.
There's beauty in the surface.
Right now I am doing a cross stitch.
I like to cross stitch.
I like to do other creative activities whether it's painting or cross stitching or just something that's creative where I don't have to have an outcome per se,
Like there's still an outcome at the end of it.
I get this beautiful picture or I get this beautiful cross stitch that I can put up in my home or give as a gift.
But it's more for the process of it all.
And it's more for this minimization of overthinking or falling into thinking traps.
Because we all fall into these thinking traps.
And what we really desire is present moment awareness.
What we really desire is to get out of the maze that the thinking traps put us in.
To get out of the waves that can never be.
.
.
Conquered.
We want to surf,
Okay?
We want to surf,
But we don't want to surf tsunamis.
We want to surf those Hawaiian waves.
You know,
Where we feel balance.
We don't want to surf waves where we're in a tsunami and we feel like.
.
.
Man,
I'm gonna die.
What am I doing out here?
I'm the only one here!
And why do we do that sometimes?
What's the purpose?
Because there's purpose in that too,
The silly things that we do.
For me,
In a deep reflection that I had with my husband recently,
I discovered that I liked the highs and the lows that I used to experience.
Because I wanted to feel alive.
And they made me feel alive being so close to quote unquote death.
That feeling of dying.
Or that feeling like you might not make it.
Ethereal grief that pulls you Yeah.
I wanted to feel alive.
I came to that conclusion and it was a beautiful moment that we had.
And in all honesty,
I would not have been able to do it without him.
My partner in crime,
My best friend,
The one who paints with me.
And that's the other thing about life,
Is not only do we fall into these thinking traps when really we desire present moment awareness,
But we think we can do it alone.
One of the biggest traps of all.
We think that we don't need people and we do.
We need one another.
I need this podcast just as much as you might in this moment.
I need the connection just as much as you do in this moment.
And this connects me to you,
All of you.
I've seen all of the different flags from all over the world.
One of our top listeners actually is in Japan.
How wild is that?
And I love it because the Japanese culture is just so fascinating.
I can't wait to go there one day with our kids as a family.
See the cherry blossoms?
Really move into that culture for a short period of time.
So let's unpack some of these thinking traps.
Because if we aren't aware of them.
.
.
We oftentimes don't even know that we're in them.
I think one of the biggest ones is really just this all or nothing thinking.
It's all or nothing.
An example could be,
You know,
When we feel like we've failed on our fitness journey,
At a job.
As a parent.
It's over.
We quit.
One missing one run or missing one workout.
All of a sudden means the end of the fitness journey.
Or sometimes it's.
.
.
Thinking that we're not a good enough parent.
And instead of saying,
Most days I am a great parent versus every day I do this.
It's really learning how to celebrate the small victories and wins instead of taking everything to an extreme,
A high or a low.
And as I said,
One of the reasons why we might do that is because we want to feel alive.
We all have a zest for life.
I was once told.
By a coach that I have this zest for life and I really do think it's a gift.
And I've fallen.
I've fallen many times and all I wanted to feel was alive.
And so it's not something that you see that you don't have because you do.
We just have different gifts and different ways of doing things.
Connecting with one another and that's okay.
We need to be able to let that be okay.
There's so many things that I wish I could do.
The other day I was speaking with family and I was saying,
You know what,
I wish I could sing.
I wish I could sing and I'm almost tempted to take singing lessons.
Just this desire to want to sing.
And I sing in other ways.
This podcast and creating this podcast is a form of music and a form of creation with our creator.
The speech,
The voice,
It's a very similar experience.
And it's also different.
And that's okay.
Another type of trap that sometimes we can fall into is this mental filtering.
So we can focus more on the negative details,
Ignoring some of the positive details.
And we want to be able to flip the switch on this and instead of focusing on,
You know,
The one time we messed up.
What about the other 90?
We don't want to discount the positive.
We also don't want to jump to conclusions.
Right?
How many times do we not hear back from a friend and in our minds we say,
Oh she's mad at me?
Or this is the reason.
We make a lot of assumptions about why people are doing what they're doing that have nothing to do with the other person and everything to do with our own past history.
We magnify and we minimize certain things.
Usually because we want to feel safe.
Right before I jumped on this,
I was like,
I don't know if I can do this today.
And I had a friend who came to me after the last podcast and said,
I don't know why you would ever say that the brain fog was affecting you because you sounded amazing.
It was honestly the most genuine compliment I've ever received from someone on this podcast.
It was so nice to just accept it and receive it.
Not from a prideful place.
As we know,
Pride is one of the seven deadly sins.
But,
Uh.
.
.
A different kind of pride.
I don't have the word for it right now,
But it was just so genuine and it was just received.
We also,
You know,
Sometimes use these should statements.
I should do this.
I should do that.
I should,
I should,
I should.
I could,
I could,
I could.
We don't need to be in those traps.
We don't need to be labeling everything.
We can just feel it.
We can just get into it.
We can just allow ourselves to be there.
That is the present moment awareness.
Because also thinking too much about not being in present moment awareness can have you running around in a thinking trap,
If that makes sense.
The letting go that we do.
Is more about removing the actual trap.
Once you move the trap,
Present moment awareness is your natural state.
There's nothing you have to do.
There's nowhere you have to go.
And a lot of people will try to sell present moment awareness.
Oh,
I will get you there.
Well I hate to say it but you were born this way so nobody's gonna get you there they may remind you but you don't need that you know $20,
000 course or whatever it might be to get you there.
This I promise.
Now I want you to take what you've come here to understand.
And I want you to know that it's already integrated within you.
I am just here to remind you.
Because this is your path.
And while I walk the chosen path with you.
You are the one who's really doing this.
You don't even need me to some extent.
Yes,
We need one another.
And we got this.
You have this.
And with that.
I want you to have the most beautiful day.
