We are back,
We are back on the Wild Becoming podcast and today I am coming to you as a soul who got some writing time.
Always a healing space for me to come from because it's been a quick minute since I really wrote something.
Almost forgot how to use a keyboard but you know when you just have something stirring within you that needs to become words on a page?
This was that kind of moment.
So what did she write about,
Friends?
What did she write about?
She wrote about the Queen of Roses.
Queen of Roses.
Yes,
You heard it here first.
Queen of Roses.
Something she thought she'd never write about,
Let alone speak about.
So let's get into it today together.
With a T in hand and what felt like a broken keyboard.
The keys were getting stuck and they were all sticky and it really felt like the keys needed to be pushed.
No pun intended.
Because the space between the words felt so hard to achieve.
And there's a mirror there for sure.
Can't quite put my finger on it,
But again,
No pun intended.
And really,
I think my heart just swells with anticipation for this specific topic.
Because as I went to go write about it,
I was like,
Why can't I write about it?
Why is it hard to speak about it?
What is it that wants to be born of me?
And I thought to myself,
Oh dear God,
Please let it be born already.
It was like a.
.
.
Bursting inside that just needed to get out into the world.
Like a flower that blooms.
And if I had to guess,
If I had to guess,
I would say that if flowers could feel pain,
It would be painful.
It would be potentially painful.
I mean,
I don't know.
I don't know if they do.
I mean,
I would think not.
I don't think flowers have pain receptors.
But you just never know how things in nature sense things.
I notice little things like the flowers in my garden turning towards the sun,
Like that's how sensitive they are.
Or I notice that if I put a flower too close to the TV that it'll usually die faster.
What does that tell you?
What does that tell you about the metaverse,
Guys?
But back to my writing.
I made this wonderful pot of tea.
I made one today too.
I've been making these pots of green tea to sip on as I talk to you about all of the things garden,
All of the things life.
And I've just been drinking the entire pot.
Just been nourishing myself with an entire pot of green tea.
And here I am,
I'm noticing that I ramble before these sessions sometimes when I'm most afraid to speak the words that need to be spoken.
And the same was true for my writing.
And what are those words?
What are those words that need to come to the surface?
Truth.
And I wish it was that easy.
I wish it was that easy,
Like writing or speaking on a Sunday morning.
Like speaking a Sunday sermon.
Like writing with that pot of green tea on a Sunday morning.
And yet,
Right when I was about to write my very next word on the page,
My son said,
Mama,
Let's go jump on the trampoline.
And I mean,
How could I pass up such an opportunity,
But to hear his laughter,
Hear his voice as we skipped and jumped.
And I tried to find that childlike wonder that he has inside of myself.
And of course,
This was followed by some wet feet and play in the garden as we admired the growth of our cucumbers,
Which are still tiny by the way.
Normally,
I'd be afraid by now.
What if they don't grow in time?
What if it snows?
What if.
.
.
Dot dot dot.
The joy of just growing seems to be more valuable to me these days.
Outcomes are nice,
And it's also nice not to have so many damn expectations.
So I did get to my writing after all,
With the sounds of my children in the background,
With a tea in hand,
And my new ring I bought from my middle finger right beside me.
With Mozart or something like him in my ear.
But first,
The lavender.
I went and I harvested all of the lavender.
And I witnessed the roses bear as I had cut the last rose of the season to place by my Bible one last time.
Oh,
How I love the roses.
Reminds me of Beauty and the Beast.
So what,
So I think what I've come here to say really is this.
Sometimes there is a story written that we may not completely agree with.
That we might not be,
That might not be 100% true as written.
After all,
There are no women representation in some writing,
But perhaps two.
I think Ruth was one and who was the other?
But it doesn't really matter at the end of the day because God will fill you up.
God will fill you up to the brim,
Especially and even with the truth.
And in your heart,
You'll call the story the Queen of Roses.
And with almost no witnesses to the story,
You'll embrace it more fully because it's yours.
It was always your story.
No one gets to write it.
No one gets to talk about it.
No one gets to say why you did XYZ or paint you as the victim.
Or villain as you sip your tea and harvest your lavender,
You'll just be you.
As you witness the leaves of your roses turn peach to pink to yellow to brown,
The leaves,
As you witness the leaves,
As you let the leaves fall and the cold air return and the garden wither away,
You'll know how much you'll miss it as it's on its way out.
And yet you'll soak in the beauty of only this moment because you know that one day you'll see it again.
The same is true for many things because nothing is ever lost.
It's just coming to you in a different form.
Till the day you meet again.
And till that day my friends,
Till that day,
May you loosen your grip and up your faith.
Because you know in your heart,
You know in your heart who you truly are.
What it all was.
And you know that this is the promise of eternal life.
And the life you have now is temporary.
So maybe you just live it fully,
To the fullest extent.
With everything you have because it is what you need the most.
And maybe,
Just maybe,
It also becomes what you want the most.
Because one day,
Friends,
One day,
It'll all be gone.
And on that day,
On that day,
Maybe what we'll actually pray for is mortality.
Maybe what we'll actually pray for is our humanity.
Because what a time it is to be alive.
Maybe on that day,
Friends,
We realize that eternity is a long ass time.
And all we long for is mortal being.
Our zest for life,
A house to live in,
A body and a mouth to feed,
Limbs to clothe,
To put that ring on our finger one last time,
To sip that warm coffee or tea,
To smell the brew we make for our beloved,
Our partner,
To have responsibility,
To have commitment.
Because one day,
It will all be gone.
One day,
Friend,
It will be gone.
Because when the Prince of Peace comes to meet us at those pearly white gates,
On that narrow path,
On his white horse with his queen,
Of roses.
Perhaps we will sigh and say what a life!
And it's the only one we have.
So we have to learn to live it and we have to learn to live it well.
We have to learn to revive the zest,
Just as we do with our garden when everything grows.
And just as we do when we feel like nothing is growing the way that we want it.
Because those roses are worth it.
The narrow gate is worth it.
And when you find it,
You never go back.
Back.
And so I leave you with this,
My friends,
Run freely toward the life of your dreams,
The one you made so many sacrifices for and will continue to make.
You will continue to make sacrifices in your life because this is it,
My friends,
This is your one precious life.
And just as they sacrificed it all for love,
They sacrificed it all for love,
For the garden,
So will you,
And when the day comes you will say,
I lived a good life.
I lived good.
Like a queen of roses,
I had plenty.
