Hello my sweet listener.
Welcome to Storytime with Nana Jojo.
I'm so happy you're here.
I'm Nana Jojo,
And I have another fun story to share with you today.
But first,
Let's get cozy!
Grab your favorite stuffie!
Wrap up in your softest blanket and snuggle in nice and tight.
Now let's take some slow,
Deep breaths together.
Remember,
When we breathe slowly,
Our bodies feel calm and relaxed.
So take a big breath in through your nose.
And breathe out with a happy sigh like this.
Hmmmm.
Let's do that again.
Big breath in.
And breathe out.
Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh One more time.
Big breath in.
And breathe out.
Uhhhhhhhhh.
.
.
Super duper job.
Do you feel nice and relaxed?
Yay,
I do too!
Okay,
My sweet little one,
Come snuggling close.
It's time for our story.
This is the wonderful story of Peter Pan.
It's a story about a boy who could fly.
A sprinkle of magic pixie dust.
And a magical island called Neverland.
It's filled with mermaids and pirates,
A family of lost boys.
And the discovery that adventures are wonderful.
But the very best place of all is home,
Tucked in with the people who you love and who love you.
Are you ready?
Okay,
Let's begin.
Once upon a time,
In a cozy house in London,
There lived a little girl named Wendy,
Along with her two younger brothers,
John and Michael.
Every night,
Their mother read wonderful stories and tucked them into bed.
And every night.
Wendy,
John,
And Michael felt so loved.
And so safe.
One night.
After their mother had read them a story and tucked them in.
Something magical happened.
A boy floated right through their bedroom window.
He had a little green outfit made of leaves and a fun and playful smile.
Hello,
My name is Peter Pan,
He said with a twinkle in his eye.
And I never grow up.
Not one single day older.
Would you like to come fly with me?
Wendy,
John,
And Michael all looked at each other with wide excited eyes.
Yes,
Said Wendy.
I've always wondered what it would feel like to fly.
Me too,
Said John,
Hopping right out of bed.
Me three,
Giggled Michael,
Clapping his hands.
Wonderful,
Said Peter,
But first you'll need a sprinkle of pixie dust.
Beside Peter,
A little light glowed.
The light was about as big as Wendy's hand.
And it zipped and zoomed all around the room.
Oh,
That's Tinkerbell,
Said Peter.
She's a fairy and she has the most important job of all.
Tinkerbell fluttered over to Wendy,
John,
And Michael and sprinkled a shimmer of gold and pixie dust over them.
Now,
Said Peter,
Think of your happiest thoughts.
The thing that makes your heart feel light as a feather.
Wendy thought of her mother's warm hug.
John thought of his favorite game.
Michael thought of his favorite teddy bear.
And then,
One by one,
Their feet lifted off the floor and they floated right up toward the ceiling.
All three giggled with delight.
They were flying.
Follow me,
Laughed Peter.
I'll take you to Neverland.
Out the window they flew,
Past the rooftops of London,
Over the sparkling ocean,
And through a sky full of stars.
They flew and flew until they saw an island below them glowing softly in the moonlight.
Welcome to Neverland,
Said Peter,
Where you never,
Ever have to grow up.
They all landed softly on the shore of Neverland.
Wendy,
John,
And Michael looked around with surprise and wonder.
Then a group of boys in animal skin clothes came tumbling out from a big hollow tree.
These are my last boys,
" said Peter proudly.
They're my family here in Neverland.
The group of last boys welcomed Wendy,
John,
And Michael with hugs.
And right away,
They all felt like they belonged.
Wendy,
John,
And Michael discovered that Neverland was full of wonders.
There were mermaids singing songs in the lagoon.
And there were fireflies that lit up the paths in the forest like tiny lanterns.
Every night,
Wendy read bedtime stories to the lost boys just like her mother used to.
Every so often,
Though,
In the middle of all the fun.
Wendy would think of her mother and father back home and she felt a little tug in her heart.
Of course,
Neverland wasn't only adventures and giggles.
It was also home to a grumpy old pirate named Captain Hook.
Captain Hook sailed the seas in his big pirate ship.
He wore a curly black wig.
And he had a shiny metal hook where his hand used to be.
And he was always trying to catch Peter Pan.
That Peter Pan outsmarts me every single time.
Captain Hook would grumble as he twirled his mustache.
One day I'll catch him for good.
But Peter was quick and clever and brave.
And with a swoosh of his sword and a puff of pixie dust,
He always managed to fly away just in time.
Even Michael and John and the last boys joined in the fun with Peter Pan.
They all played pirate games and had grand pretend battles on the sandy shores of Neverland.
One evening,
As the stars began to twinkle over Neverland,
Wendy sat on a big rock and she looked out at the sea.
She was quiet and feeling thoughtful.
Peter flew over and landed beside her.
What's wrong,
Wendy?
He asked.
I love it here,
Said Wendy.
But I miss my mother and father.
I miss being tucked in,
And I miss hearing my mother's voice say goodnight.
Peter was confused.
But here you never have to grow up.
Or say goodnight,
Or go home at all.
I know,
Said Wendy gently.
And that sounds like so much fun.
And it is fun.
But I think home is where my heart feels the fullest.
Even more full than flying does.
John and Michael were listening nearby.
And they both nodded.
They miss their mother and father too.
And they were ready to go back home.
Peter was quiet for a moment.
He loved his friends and he didn't want them to leave.
But he could see how much they missed their family.
All right,
Peter said softly.
I understand.
Home is a wonderful place.
I'll fly you back myself.
Tinkerbell then sprinkled one more shimmer of pixie dust over the three of them,
And together they lifted off into the night sky with Peter.
They waved goodbye to the lost boys and to the magical island of Neverland.
They flew back over the sparkling ocean,
Over the rooftops of London,
And right into their very own bedroom window.
Their mother was overjoyed to see them,
And there were lots of happy tears in her eyes.
She scooped all three of her children into the biggest hug in the whole wide world.
Mother,
Said Wendy,
Hugging her tightly.
We had the most wonderful adventure.
But we missed you and father so much and we wanted to come back home.
Peter Pan floated outside the window for just a moment,
Watching the happy family.
Thank you for the adventure,
Peter.
Wendy called to him.
And thank you for bringing us back home.
That's what best friends do,
Said Peter with a wink.
And with a twinkle of pixie dust,
Peter flew off into the night sky,
Promising to visit again another day.
The End And so,
My dear little listeners,
What did Peter Pan teach us in this magical story?
He showed us that using our imagination and going on adventures can fill our hearts with so much wonder and joy.
And he showed us that no matter how far we fly,
Or how much fun we have.
The very best feeling of all is coming home to those we love.
And who love us.
As our storytime comes to an end,
I want you to think about your own happy thought.
One that makes your heart feel light as a feather.
You can carry that happy thought with you always,
Just like Wendy,
John,
And Michael did.
And just like them,
You can know that home is the most magical place of all.
And always be sure to remember that Nana Jojo loves you so very much.
I'll be right here when you're ready for another story.
If you're not quite ready for sleep,
I hope you have the most wonderful rest of your day.
But if it is time to go to sleep now.
I'm wishing you the sweetest and happiest dreams.
Sleep tight,
My little love.
I'll see you again soon.
Good night.
