Welcome,
Dear one.
This is Very Wendy,
And thank you so much for being here.
This is a meditation of the Wounded Heart Series,
A journey of coming home to the parts of yourself that have longed to be seen,
Felt,
And loved.
Today we will turn toward a protector part,
An inner voice or force that may seem harsh,
Anxious,
Controlling,
Or numb,
But it is actually doing its best to keep you safe.
These parts,
Under the IFS theory,
Are often called burdens,
Burdens of protection,
Acting out of fear,
Not malice,
And we are not here to fix them or silence them.
We were here simply to listen with curiosity and compassion.
So if you're ready,
Please find a comfortable place.
Take a moment to allow your body to settle,
And we will begin grounding with our breath.
So take a nice,
Slow,
Deep breath in,
Filling your lungs,
Allowing your belly to expand,
And then gently exhale through your mouth,
Allowing your navel to come towards your spine.
Feel the ground beneath you,
Let your shoulders soften,
Let your jaw unclench,
And your belly loosen.
There's nothing to do right now,
Nowhere to go,
Just being in this moment.
With each breath,
We invite more of yourself to arrive,
Your higher self.
Your true self,
The part of you that is calm,
Clear,
And open-hearted.
This self is your inner witness,
The one who can meet all your parts with love.
Now,
Gently ask inside,
Is there a part of me that works very hard to keep me safe?
Maybe by criticizing me,
Controlling things,
Overworking,
Withdrawing,
Or numbing my feelings.
Just take a moment and see what may arise for you.
It may come as a thought,
An emotion,
A body sensation,
Or a mental image.
There's no wrong way to feel this.
Just see what arises.
Now,
Once you sense the protector in whatever form it has come and shown its face to you,
Gently say,
I see you and I'm here with you.
And now let's begin a loving dialogue.
Ask this part inwardly,
What are you afraid would happen if you didn't do your job?
Wait and listen.
What are you afraid would happen if you didn't do your job?
You might hear,
I'm afraid you'll be hurt again.
I'm trying to make sure you're not rejected.
I just want you to be perfect so you'll be loved.
Whatever it says,
Just listen.
Even if it's confused or angry,
It's still protecting something tender in you.
So just sit here quietly and listen without judgment.
And then ask this part,
This protector,
How long have you been doing this job?
And you may hear phrases like a long time,
Since childhood,
Since that thing happened.
Just wait for that response.
See how this burden wants to speak to you.
And you can honor its endurance and then gently say,
Thank you.
I didn't realize how much you've been carrying.
You don't have to do it all alone anymore.
I'm here now.
And see how that protector part reacts when it receives these words,
Thank you.

And take a moment and breathe that in.
And you might visualize this protector part.
Protector holding a heavy bag or a shield.
And then slowly just setting it down.
Just feeling the weight and the release of this protector.
Just letting go and surrendering what it has been holding on to for so long to protect you.
Maybe you imagine this part stepping into a warm light,
Where it's finally safe to rest.
Whatever it needs,
There's no rush.
There's no pressure.
There's just permission.
This invitation to arise and your higher self is meeting this protector with open arms and with love.
And let this protector know you're not asking it to disappear.
You're only asking to begin trusting that yourself,
Your higher self,
Your higher self,
Your true self is strong enough to lead now.
See how it responds.
How does this protector part feel when you say you are strong enough to lead?
You can rest now.
And just feel what happens.
Feel it in your body.
Feel a sense of relaxation and relief and release.
This is the beginning of a new relationship.
One based on understanding,
Not fear.
And breathe into that.
Breathe into that.
Breathe into your heart.
Lovingly,
Imagine your arms placed around the protector and you as the higher self.
Integrating this protector into you,
Breathing in to your heart,
Into your whole being.
And just rest here in that feeling.
And notice what's happening.
Notice how you feel.
It's so beautiful.
Take a few final breaths.
Feeling your body,
Feeling your breath,
And your heart.
You are not fragmented.
You are not broken.
You are a system of wisdom doing its best to protect your heart.
And now,
With more love,
More awareness,
And more wholeness,
You begin again.
When you're ready,
Slowly return to the room.
Wiggle your fingers and toes and open your eyes.
