The Mountain Within Welcome to this guided meditation.
To begin,
Take a comfortable seat or lie down somewhere you can rest without interruption.
Let your hands rest loosely and if you like close your eyes.
Begin by noticing your breath,
Not trying to change it,
Just feeling life moving in and out.
And as you settle into your body,
Allow your shoulders to soften.
Let the muscles of your face release.
And feel the weight of your body supported beneath you.
With each exhale,
Sink a little deeper into this moment.
Notice how the breath moves through you,
Rising and falling like gentle waves on a calm shore.
And begin to visualize a mountain in your mind's eye.
And you see this great mountain before you.
You notice its solid base,
Rooted deep in the earth.
It sleeps,
Rise steadily,
Reaching towards the sky.
The mountain is not in a rush,
It simply is strong,
Still and unshaken.
And as you visualize this mountain,
You see the details.
The rock,
The trees and the snow on its peak.
And you sense and you feel the quiet power in its presence.
Now you become the mountain.
You imagine you are this mountain.
Your feet and legs are the base,
Grounded and steady.
Your spine rises like the central peak,
Tall and unwavering.
You are anchored in your being,
No matter what sways around you.
And you breathe,
You breathe deeply into this strength.
And you notice,
As you've become this mountain,
That this mountain is not in a rush.
This mountain experiences changing seasons.
And above and around you,
The seasons shift.
Some days bring bright sunshine.
Other days brings heavy clouds.
And rain may fall,
And snow may cover your slopes,
And winds may whip across your peak.
Yet through it all,
The mountain remains,
Steady at its core.
You too have a steady center,
A place within you that is calm,
Unshaken and safe.
And as you return back to your being,
And returning back to your breath,
Breathing as the mountain breathes,
Slow,
Deep and steady.
Each inhale brings fresh life,
And each exhale releases what you no longer need.
And when you are ready,
You become aware of your surroundings.
You begin to wiggle your fingers and toes,
Whilst keeping the mountain's strength within you.
Gently opening your eyes,
Whilst staying grounded in this presence.
And you carry this grounded presence,
Into whatever comes next in your day.
Thank you for taking the time for this meditation.
