Welcome to this short guided recording to take an intentional break from your work.

If it's safe and comfortable for you to do so,

Let your eyes close gently.

Soften the jaw,

Release the shoulders.

Let your hands rest and feel heavy.

Notice the contact of your body with your seat.

Imagine what it would be like to completely let go of any tension in the body.

Now,

See what you've been carrying in your head,

Ideas,

Tasks,

Plans.

Whatever these things are,

Ask yourself if it's okay to let them go,

Just for now.

Trusting they will return when needed.

For the next few moments,

Take back this space inside your head and let it be open and spacious,

Welcoming this break.

For the next 30 seconds,

Just settle in to this open spaciousness.

How is that?

If you found it difficult,

That's okay.

It's the fact that you set aside this time to take a break that's most important.

Before you return to work,

Give yourself some credit for setting aside this time.

If you can extend this break now to include some time to get up and move,

A moment to stretch,

Maybe a walk outside,

Or even just another 30 seconds of silence,

That would be a gift to yourself.

Whatever you do next,

It can come from this space you've created.

And when you do choose to return to your work,

Allow this space you've generated to come along with you too.

This was probably the most calming three minutes that I have had during a work day in a long time! Really simple and peaceful practice. I loved both the guidance to let go of the busy thoughts/pull to be productive, and acceptance at the end that this can be hard to do. This meditation was a gift of peace and I will surely return it on another work day.
