We spend most of our days in a state of survival.
Fight,
Flight,
And if that doesn't work we go into freeze or we fawn.
This has become a way for us to stay safe.
This is what has worked for us in the past and we continue to do this because it worked.
We don't realize how often we're triggered into any of those four stress responses.
And it causes us so many problems because we keep in a state of arousal all day and then it's so hard to unwind,
So hard to sleep,
So hard to relax or to just be present in the now.
Because this moment,
This now is so uncomfortable if it is in a fight,
Flight,
Freeze,
Or fawn.
It feels so miserable and we just want to run from it.
So we numb ourselves with all kinds of things,
Whether it be food,
Phone,
Other addictions.
We're scared to connect to ourselves,
To our bodies,
And maybe even more scared to connect to others with all of our vulnerabilities.
The practice for you is to find out what triggers you into fight,
Flight,
Freeze,
Or fawn.
Which situations or which statements or interactions or which people make you contract?
And what do you need to get out of those states?
There's so many ways that we can come out of those four stress responses.
There's so many practices.
You can do long exhales,
You can shake it out,
Tap it out,
Talk it out.
Do visualizations that bring you to a place of calm.
It's all available to you,
But you need to be willing to do things differently and to face your demons.
It can be hard to do that type of shadow work,
But right behind that shadow work comes the light.
And the darker it gets,
The more light you'll find.
I believe that true liberation is found in that path of going into the things that we hide from ourselves and from the world,
And liberate those things so we can bring all of us into this world.
So may this be your invitation to go see what makes you fight,
Flight,
Freeze,
Or fawn,
So you can be more deliberate and intentional for yourself,
And start living from a place of calm.
A regulated nervous system is worth everything.
The world looks different from that place.
You'll be able to bring in so much more joy,
Fun,
Pleasure,
Comfort,
Excitement,
And all the other good stuff.
Good luck,
Dear one.
You've got this.
