A gentle meditation reading Psalm 67 from Nan Merrill's Psalms for Praying. Before beginning, there is time to settle and come to stillness, then, the Psalm is read through three times. There is an opportunity to welcome the words or phrases that stand out to you to be received deeply and offer their gift. This version of the Psalms is not a direct translation but is kind, gentle, and intimate.

Hello friends and welcome to this Lectio Divina on Psalm 67.

I want to give you a few moments to settle in,

To arrive into this space.

As you step over the threshold into this Lectio Divina,

Perhaps you notice some things that want to fall away and be surrendered.

Perhaps you notice places within your heart and your life that need tending to with love and kindness.

Allow yourself to arrive,

To settle,

To prepare to receive these words in whatever way seems best and right for you in this moment.

I'm going to read the Psalm three times and on this first reading I invite you to simply let the words come,

Get a feel for the Psalm.

But don't attach to any words in particular,

Just let them come as a gentle rain entering your being.

Psalm 67 The Beloved is gracious to us,

A loving presence within us,

The radiant one shines in us.

O that love's way would be lived throughout the earth,

Love's abiding power embraced by all nations.

May the people ever rejoice in you,

Singing songs of appreciation for all that you,

O Beloved,

Freely give to us.

Let the nations listen and heed,

We are called to live with integrity and justice.

For you,

O blessed Counsellor,

Will guide every nation on earth as the leaders and people open their hearts and respond.

Abandoning ourselves into the heart of love,

We need not worry or fret.

For love's grace abides wherever we are,

In love let us make our home.

On this second reading I invite you to notice any words or phrases that capture your attention.

The Beloved is gracious to us,

A loving presence within us,

The radiant one shines in us.

O that love's way would be lived throughout the earth,

Love's abiding power embraced by all nations.

May the people ever rejoice in you,

Singing songs of appreciation for all that you,

O Beloved,

Freely give to us.

Let the nations listen and heed,

We are called to live with integrity and justice.

For you,

O blessed Counsellor,

Will guide every nation on earth as the leaders and people open their hearts and respond.

Abandoning ourselves into the heart of love,

We need not worry or fret.

For love's grace abides wherever we are,

In love let us make our home.

This third and final reading is an opportunity to welcome those words and phrases,

To bring their gift to the deeper parts of yourself where they're needed.

Notice what they offer you,

Maybe they invite a response,

Maybe you simply want to lean into them and receive the gift of what they contain.

The Beloved is gracious to us,

A loving presence within us,

The radiant one shines in us.

Love's abiding power embraced by all nations.

May the people ever rejoice in you,

Singing songs of appreciation for all that you,

You,

O blessed Counsellor,

Will guide every nation on earth as the leaders and people open their hearts and respond.

Abandoning ourselves into the heart of love,

We need not worry or fret,

For love's grace abides wherever we are,

In love let us make our home.

You may want to re-listen to these words,

You may want to enter a time of silence to reflect,

To welcome them,

To bring their gift to you where it's needed.

May love's grace abide in you wherever you are,

And may love make its home in you.

You are deeply loved,

Beloved.

You are held in the Beloved.

You are embraced by divine love.

Be blessed.

Amen.

Amen.

The use of non-gendered language is ever so inviting as we pray these psalms together. Thank you, once again.
