Hello,

I'm Abbey from the Mindful Bee.

Have you ever been told off by your mum or dad or a grown-up who takes care of you?

Or do you ever think your teachers can be really,

Really bossy?

Can be annoying,

Can't it?

Well,

I'm going to tell you a story about ten cheeky genies who just would not listen to the advice from their grown-ups.

Shall we find out what happened to them?

Okay,

Let's see now.

Ten cheeky genies are stuck behind glass.

But why?

And what did they do,

You may ask?

Well,

Prick up your ears and draw yourself near and I'll tell you,

Dear listener,

What you want to hear.

These genies' mummies and these genies' dads do not have chill-out space like you may have.

When genie children play up at all,

They're just popped into bottles and plopped on a wall.

And there they must wait until mums are less mad or genie kids want to say sorry to dad.

And this is the story of ten cheeky sorts who would not behave and were punished,

Of course.

There was O,

Who would simply not get out of bed.

He would lie there all day with his favourite Ted.

In his super-gin PJs,

He'd hear his mum shout,

You'll be late for school,

O!

Get up now!

Get out!

But O would just yawn and ignore his poor mum.

He'd stretch so his PJs rode up in his bum.

Then his mother,

Who really grew tired of it all,

Popped him into a bottle and out on the wall.

And then there was grubby and stinky old Boo.

He never washed hands when he went to the loo.

And even though mummy and daddy would scold him,

He never listened to a thing that they told him.

And as a result,

He had so many germs,

He was always off school with sickness and worms.

Then his dad,

Who grew fed up and crossed with it all,

Dropped him into a bottle and out on the wall.

Now whoops had a mum who would constantly grouse,

Whoops!

You must stop playing ball in the house!

You've shattered my windows and smashed up my vases.

You've dented the door and broken my glasses.

Enough is enough!

She said with a shout.

Take your football and boots now and please just get out!

But Whoops wouldn't listen,

Carried on playing ball till he found himself locked up in glass on a wall.

Eek was a genie who liked to play tricks.

He'd swallow large swords or eat fire just for kicks.

He'd conjure up lightning,

Make fake mice appear,

Which would make his poor mother cry out in great fear.

It's too much to take Eek!

You really must stop!

She begged and she cried till she thought she might pop.

Then she finally grew so annoyed with it all that Eek found himself bound behind glass on a wall.

One genie dad worried most for his daughter.

Oops played for hours in her evening bath water.

She would not get out when she had been told.

She'd sit there for hours in water grown cold,

Missing homework and dinner,

A tight bedtime hug,

Throwing a tantrum when dad pulled the plug.

Then dad said enough!

I'm so tired of it all!

And there went Oops glass bound on top of a wall.

Wee was a proper adrenaline junkie.

He would swing from the furniture like a small monkey.

Curtains were yanked as he flew through the air and cushions were whipped as he bounced chair to chair.

But no matter what his poor parents tried shouting,

He paid them no mind and just laughed at their pouting.

Then one day mum reached out before he could fall,

Plonked him into a bottle and out on the wall.

Yum was a greedy and chubby young genie.

His favourite food was sweet jelly beanies.

He never ate vegetables,

Salad or fruit.

His granny despaired of the unhealthy brute.

Yum's skin grew so greasy his teeth turned quite yellow.

He really became such a sickly young fellow.

Then finally Gran put a stop to it all by sealing Yum up behind glass on a wall.

Then there was Yuck,

A bad mannered thing.

He was so full of wind that he wouldn't rein in.

He burped all through breakfast.

He belched after lunch.

His blow-offs could certainly pack a fair punch.

His parents were horrified by their rude son and wondered just what on earth could be done.

Then desperate to put an end to it all,

They dumped Yuck in a bottle and out on the wall.

And last but not least were the twins,

Both fighters.

Keep it down!

Their mum yelled at the naughty young blighters.

Oof!

Argued at school.

Ouch!

Fought over toys.

Their teacher had grown to despair of the boys.

Their mum said,

Please try to play fair with each other rather than slapping and shoving your brother.

But did they care?

Did they listen at all?

Well no,

Till they found themselves stuck on a wall.

So that's how they got there,

Those ten cheeky genies,

Thinking their parents were rotten old meanies.

They would not say sorry.

They really would not.

And they sat in their bottles until they grew hot.

They grew all hot and bothered and flew into a tizzy.

And when genies get cross,

They tend to get busy.

But did they apologise?

Were they set free?

Just listen to ten green bottles and see.
