Hello,
My name is Abbey and I feel very lucky to be your guide in some positive affirmations today.
It's really important that you say nice things to yourself and this is because when you repeat something often enough it will stick in your brain.
You have lots of pathways in your brain that grow strong and thick whenever you think,
Say or do something often enough and this is why things become easier with practice.
When you first learn to walk or talk you may have fallen over lots of times or babbled without making any sense but with constant practice you grew better at these skills.
In the same way if you constantly say unkind things to yourself like,
I can't do this because I'm rubbish or what's the point I'll never be any good at this.
These are the messages that will stick in your brain so that whenever you need to learn something new and may be feeling scared or anxious about it these negative messages are the ones that you will hear in your head that may stop you from succeeding.
But if you tell yourself,
I can learn how to do this if I practice or I may not be able to do this yet but I can still try,
These positive messages will come back to you when you need them to and these are the messages that will help you to learn and grow.
It's so important that you treat yourself like a really good friend.
If you wouldn't say something unkind to a friend then don't say it to yourself.
You are absolutely good enough exactly as you are and once you realise this you won't feel the need to rely on the approval of other people to make you feel worthy.
So let's start with taking some deep slow breaths in and out to relax and help us to listen more fully to the messages we are sending ourselves today.
We're going to imagine filling our whole body with a new breath whilst counting to five before exhaling the old breath to a count of six.
So in for five like this one two three four five and out for six one two three four five six.
On the next breath as you count in your head to five imagine this breath filling every part of your amazing body.
Then exhale counting to six breathing out any worries or fears and imagining them turning into little drops of rain that fall into the sea and are swept far away on the tide until you can't see them anymore.
Then take another deep slow breath in counting in your head to five again and imagine you are drawing in a bright beam of light and filling up your whole body from the top of your head to the tips of your toes.
Then slowly now to the count of six breathe out any tricky feelings or hurt you might be holding onto with a long slow out breath watching these thoughts turn into leaves that tumble and crumble and blow away in the wind until there's nothing left.
Let's take one final long deep breath imagining we're inhaling little bubbles of warmth and letting those bubbles fill us up like a big balloon.
Then breathing out slowly imagining any unhappy thoughts or sadness drifting out with your breath turning into little puffs of smoke that are carried far away into the sky growing smaller and smaller until they disappear completely.
Now let your breathing return to its natural rhythm and relax whilst you imagine standing under a waterfall of bright sparkling lights.
Listen to these words washing over you filling your head and flowing through you allowing the messages to fill your chest your heart and your belly letting the truth of them fill you with happiness and peace.
