GOP1 medications like Ozempic,
Wigovi,
And ZepBound quieted my food noise,
But I still have anxiety.
The people that I work with on these medications are surprised and a tiny bit disappointed that their anxiety about their body,
Their identity,
Their relationship with food doesn't go away on these medications.
Changes into something different.
The new fears that surface that I see the most often Who am I in this new body?
What if the medication stops working?
What if my old self and my old body come back?
What if I lose all of this progress?
Who am I now?
In this,
It can feel like you traded one anxiety for another.
So if you're feeling anxiety right now on this journey that may be changed or transformed into different or new anxiety,
I want you to ask yourself a question.
What if anxiety wasn't a message or a warning sign that something is wrong?
What if your anxiety was a roadmap to discovering a place inside of you that was calling out for your own deep care?
Where would that lead you and what would the part of you that feels anxious ask you for?
What does the part of you that feels anxious need?
From you.
Now,
For many of us,
Our anxious parts can feel so overwhelming that it's hard to even ask that question.
So take your time.
Consider visualizing meeting the part of you that's anxious in a very neutral space.
And you can make that up in your mind,
Like a calming beach or a beautiful place in nature that feels safe to you.
And from that perspective,
Anxiety becomes less of an enemy to defeat and more of a messenger to listen to.
