Hello.

I am honored to share a meditation for this moment in time as we navigate COVID-19 and the challenging circumstances it brings about personally,

Professionally,

And for the Earth.

Living is a privilege,

But we made Mother Earth a bit angry.

We neglected her gifts,

Got lazy and thoughtless.

We've pushed a button and the Earth is on fire.

It is time to listen.

It's a wake-up call.

An awareness practice.

This pandemic is horrible,

Don't get me wrong,

But the disease and discomfort in the universe right now is palatable.

It is also breaking open human generosity and empathy and reducing our planetary impact.

It is super hard for humans to live through big times of change,

But we have the tools and we have the ability to be resilient and thrive.

In this meditation,

I want to have you choose optimism,

Choose compassion.

We're going to send loving kindness to the Earth,

But also empathy and loving kindness to the people,

Including ourselves,

Who want to make a change.

We can only transform our world by transforming ourselves.

So can we see this pandemic as an opportunity for growth so that we can stay alert,

Aware,

But not anxious?

Today I offer you a healing mindfulness meditation to transform,

To let go of anxiety,

Grief,

And overwhelmed feelings and plant the seed of hope for climate change.

Remember,

As you practice this,

There is no right way to meditate.

It's a moment-to-moment awareness practice.

You can do this meditation seated or laying down.

Your eyes can be open,

Focused on one thing,

Or your eyes could be closed.

Although eyes closed is a super easy way to calm the body and ease our nervous system.

And your hands,

Your palms could be facing up or in the gyan mudra,

Which is the okay symbol,

Thumb and index finger touching and the rest of the fingers spread out wide,

Which is the link between the individual and the universal.

Let's set the intention together to root down,

To rise up.

We'll do this meditation to the earth and our root chakras,

Our earth elements,

So that we can create balance and stay as steady,

Grounded,

And flexible as a tree during this unique time.

Let's begin.

Sitting or laying down,

Find your comfortable place.

Feel yourself living life from the heart in this moment.

Sense the quality of compassion in your soft belly breaths.

Enjoy the softness and the tenderness in your heart.

You could even place your hands on your heart,

Feeling the warmth of your hands like sunshine,

Holding your heart in your hands.

And as you hold your heart in your hands like a sprouting seed,

How are you feeling?

Really,

How are you?

Listen as you breathe in with ease and breathe out with ease.

Let's try that again.

Breathe in with ease,

Breathe out with ease.

Taking these warm breaths of compassion and feel your heart right itself,

Slowing down the busy thoughts,

Slowing everything down to listen.

I am grateful.

Raise your heart.

Feel the majestic nature of the earth coursing through your veins.

Relax as you breathe in with ease and breathe out with ease.

Feel the breath and really begin to let go of any forcing or striving,

All control over the breath.

Just witness yourself breathing.

Feel you can trace your breath,

Entering through the nostrils,

Guided to the lungs,

Calmly flowing through the entire body,

Soothing the waters deep within.

Follow the flow of the inhale and the exhale,

Breathing in with ease and breathe out with gratitude.

Sink in a bit deeper.

I invite you to feel the eyes relaxing,

Your eyelids closing.

Connect with your breath even more.

Breathe in and breathe out.

Flush your body with the deep nourishing breath.

Feel the wisdom of your roots as your feet touch the earth.

Safe,

Supported,

Feel strong,

Stable,

Healing energy flowing through every pore,

Breathing and being.

Healing and loving kindness for yourself,

Healing and loving kindness for Mother Earth.

Gratitude entering into your veins,

Internal organs functioning,

Calm and happy.

They are vital and healthy.

Feel your spine long,

Shoulders drop down from the ears,

Stress leaving the body,

Rolling off the arms,

The fingertips,

Literally letting go of tightness in the body.

Notice and observe as you feel the breath effortless and easy,

Releasing the tightness.

Witness the air gliding through every cell.

Breathe in and breathe out.

From the base of the spine to the crown of the head and the crown of the head back down to the base of the spine.

From the base of the spine up to the crown of the head and the crown of the head back down to the base of the spine.

Your breath is glowing,

Warm and tranquil.

Begin to feel as if your spine is like a tree,

Roots down the legs,

Through the toes,

Digging through the floor,

The concrete,

Till you reach the moist earth.

Dirt right down into the heart of the matter.

Breathe in,

Vitality,

Life force,

Positive energy.

Breathe out and let go of any heaviness.

Breathe in and breathe out.

Feel I am peace and sense the roots growing even deeper down into the earth,

Connecting you to the core,

United,

Healing,

Whole and strong,

Connected to all things.

Breathe in that sustenance,

Nurturing and supportive energy.

Breathe out and feel deeper roots as you begin to finally let go of what's not yours,

What no longer serves you.

Breathe in and breathe out.

Feel I am evolving,

Calm and courageous.

Begin to plant the seed of hope.

Feel compassion gather around your heart and dissolve fear.

Your breath kindling bravery.

You are tall like an oak tree,

Standing strong no matter which way the winds of change may blow.

Goodness blossoms on every branch.

Fresh new hope developing.

Breathe in and breathe out.

Your breath moves freely like winds on an open prairie.

Feel and sense how steady,

Centered and stable,

How secure you are as you are gently evolving.

Like a soaring mountain,

Nothing can erode your calm.

Your body,

Every neuron,

Every fiber,

Every tissue,

Radiant like the countless stars in the night sky.

Positive vibes throughout.

Breathe in and breathe out.

Your mind is a clear blue sky,

Vibrant,

Glowing and spacious.

Your body is made from the elements of the planet.

Your blood from its waters,

The air we breathe from Mother Earth's atmosphere.

We are not separate.

All of Earth's resources are a part of you.

And you are bountiful.

You are beautiful.

You are blissful.

Feel it deep down within.

I am love.

Supported,

Nurtured,

Vital.

Feel that deep breath in and the incredible deep breath out.

Mmm.

Slowly and gently come back into this space.

Eyes are still closed.

Your body moving like a tiny seed,

Gently sprouting to break through the earth and the dirt.

Back to join the others that might be already in a seated position.

Placing your hands together in front of you.

Eyes still closed.

Feel the connection and the warmth in your hands.

That golden healing vibe of hope that you've created.

Rub your palms together fast and fast and fast.

Placing your hands over your closed eyes.

Then slowly and gently releasing your hands to open your eyes to a compassionate heart.

Your best self and a fresh perspective to take a step forward.

In thought,

In speech and in action,

May the merits of our practice together benefit all beings.
