Welcome to this japa mala meditation session.
Today we will be using a 108 beat mala and affirmation to guide our practice and bring focus on our meditation.
Find a comfortable seated position,
Close your eyes and take a deep breath in and out Feel the ground beneath you and allow yourself to settle into this moment Let's begin by setting an intention for this practice Your intention can be a word,
A phrase or simply a feeling you wish to cultivate Take a moment to bring this intention to mind Now gently pick up your mala Hold it in your right hand dropping it over your middle finger with the guru bead between your thumb and index finger.
The guru bead is the large bead at the beginning and end of your mala With your intention in mind we will begin our meditation using positive affirmations For each beat we will say an affirmation.
This can be a traditional affirmation like I am peaceful or I am strong or you can just say simply oh it's completely up to you Now choose your own affirmation you would like to use for this meditation Start by moving your fingers to the first beat next to the guru bead Take a deep breath in and as you exhale say your chosen affirmation Move to the next beat,
Inhale and on exhale repeat the affirmation Move to the third beat Repeat the affirmation on the next beat Now continue with the five next beats Now continue with the next five beats Continue with the five next beats Now continue with the next five beats Now continue with the next five beats Now continue with the next ten beats Now continue with the next ten beats Now continue with the next ten beats Continue with the next ten beats And now again for the next ten beats Again ten beats Now ten beats again Continue with the next ten beats And now continue with the last eight beats As you approach the guru bead again take a moment to reflect on your practice If you are concluding your practice take a deep breath in and as you exhale release your affirmation Gently place your mala down and take a moment to sit in silence Feeling the effects of your meditation When you are ready bring your awareness back to your surroundings Wiggle your fingers and toes,
