Let's pause here for a moment.
Whatever has come before this.
Can be set down for now.
We don't need to carry it into the next few minutes.
We're simply here.
The body can be how it wants to be.
Sitting upright.
Reclined or lying down.
There's no right posture.
We can trust.
That the body knows.
How it wants to be.
If the eyelids feel like closing.
They can close.
If they'd rather remain open.
That's fine too.
The ice can soften.
The forehead can soften too.
As can the jaw.
And the shoulders.
This softening can happen gradually.
There's no need to hurry.
Nothing else needs doing right now.
We might sense the simple fact.
That's our body.
Is somewhere.
It occupies space.
It has weight.
And it is already.
Touching the ground.
Or something that rests on the ground.
Let's tune in to the way the body touches the surface beneath it.
Perhaps the feet are resting on the floor.
Or the legs are touching a chair.
The back may be resting against some support.
Or maybe the weight of the body.
Is on a bed or cushion.
We're not analysing this,
But We're simply noticing the contact that's there.
There may be areas where the pressure feels clearer.
And other areas that feel lighter.
Some places may feel firm.
Others softer.
We're not searching for the right sensation.
We're just aware.
Of how the contact is happening.
We might then tune in to the simple fact that the body has weight.
Gravity is here.
Whether we think about it or not.
The body is always being drawn downward.
And the ground is always meeting that way.
There's nothing we need to do.
We can just sense the support beneath us.
Even if we are sitting upright.
The chair is supporting us.
The floor is supporting the chair.
Weeping hell.
Then,
We might gently explore.
Is there anywhere?
The body is subtly bracing.
Or holding itself.
And what happens?
If we allow.
Just a little more weight.
To draw.
This doesn't need to be a big shift.
We might notice that.
Weight is already gravitating downward.
Nothing needs to be done.
Gravity is already doing the work.
The shoulders might release a fraction more.
Perhaps the hips.
Can settle.
A little deeper.
Or perhaps Nothing has to change at all.
Either way is fine.
We're just noticing.
What it's like.
To be supported.
The ground doesn't require anything from us.
It simply means our way to be.
Whether we feel steady or restless calm or busy.
The support remains.
The feeling of weight.
Is not fixed in one place.
If the body moves slightly one way.
The pressure may be sensed.
In different areas.
When it shifts back.
The contact point changes again.
Gravity remains the same.
But where we feel it moves.
The support doesn't disappear.
For a little while.
We can stay with this simple experience.
The feeling of weight.
The feeling of contact.
The sense.
Of being supported.
And now.
We can begin to widen our awareness again.
Noticing any sounds there may be around us.
Sensing the space around the body.
We can also continue to feel the contact that the body has.
With the surface beneath it.
When it feels right.
We might invite a small movement.
Perhaps in the fingers or the toes.
Maybe the head turns gently.
Maybe a deeper breath happens on its own.
And if the eyes have been closed they can open.
When they are ready.
And take in what's around.
And as we move on from here,
We can carry this simple idea with us.
Support is available.
Whether we notice it.
Or not.
And we can allow that support.
To come with us.
Gently.
