Let's allow ourselves to move into a quieter pace.
Whatever has been asking for attention.
Can remain a little further away for now.
For these next few minutes.
We're simply making room.
Be here.
The body can come to rest.
In whatever way feels most supportive.
Sitting.
Reclining.
Or lying down.
Nothing needs to be arranged just so.
We can let the body settle in a way it naturally wants to.
The eyes may remain open or closed as they prefer.
And around the eyes.
There may be a little softening.
Perhaps the forehead softens too.
And the jaw.
The throat the shoulders.
There's nowhere we need to get to.
We're simply allowing a little more room for noticing.
Today,
We are exploring the possibility.
Of softening the impulse to try.
Not by forcing effort away.
And not by trying to become effortless.
But by noticing.
With effort.
May already be present.
There may be a sense of holding the body.
In a particular way.
Keeping something in place.
Sitting a little more upright.
Than needed.
Holding a little tension.
Out of habit.
And if that's here,
We don't need to correct it.
Just noticing may be enough.
For something to loosen a little.
There may be a kind of trying in the mind.
Trying to stay with the meditation.
Trying not to drift.
Trying not to think.
Trying to feel calm.
And if any of that is here that too.
Can simply be noticed.
Notice a problem.
But just as part of what's happening.
Sometimes there can be some effort.
To manage our emotions.
Perhaps trying to feel more at ease.
Trying to settle something.
Trying to bring in a more positive state or a more neutral one.
If this kind of trying is here,
That too can simply be noticed.
This is how things are right now.
If a feeling or a thought or some bodily sensation is present.
It can be as it is.
And if nothing much is present.
That's okay too.
We don't need to adjust how this moment feels.
We don't have to try and make things any different.
How things are.
Is already enough.
As we continue to notice trying.
We might gently wander.
What is it like?
When effort isn't required.
And now.
Awareness can widen again.
We might notice the body resting here.
The contact.
With what supports it.
The sounds around us.
The sense of space.
There's no hurry.
When it feels right.
The fingers or toes might wiggle a little.
Maybe a deep sigh comes naturally.
And if the eyes have been closed.
They can open in their own time.
And they can take in what surrounds them.
As we continue.
With the rest of the day.
We might remember.
Not everything.
Needs to be carried.
Through effort.
And maybe some things.
Can be met.
In a gentler way.
