There once was a girl who lived embraced by chains.
This girl came to believe that these chains were a part of her very being and reason for existing.
She carried them around with her.
Although invisible,
They began taking their toll upon her small but mighty body both internally and externally.
She began to stumble and fall as the weight only grew,
Dwelling on what had happened and the heaviness that resulted,
Anticipating in fear the future that beckoned to her.
What this girl did not yet realize was the strength that was being developed.
A tiny seed germinating and beginning to take root.
As this girl wandered farther and farther into the darkness and heaviness that had now become a part of her every day,
Something shifted.
One day,
She was led into a vision.
She saw herself as a bird with multicolored feathers encapsulated in a cage that had grown far too small.
She began to move about inside of the cage and one by one,
The bars began to break away.
She was getting stronger.
This strength resulting from moving through the dark,
Moving through the heavy,
Carrying these chains for so long.
A perspective shift.
That very same evening,
She wandered out underneath of the pitch black and velvet sky.
Her eyes adjusted and she looked up to one of the most wondrous and ineffable views her eyes had ever met.
The moon had not risen and it was because of the darkness.
She could see every single star in the sky.
Her eyes began to open inside as she reconnected with her own internal radiance that was shining brighter than ever because of that darkness she had been traveling through.
Her chains,
The cage and the darkness spoke.
Don't you see,
Dear one,
You are stronger and brighter than all of us combined.
All that we wanted for you to do was recognize that we were here and realize the gift and the strength and the light that you are.
The girl began to run,
But it was no longer a result of fear.
She felt light and she felt joy.
She lovingly released these three teachers as she gazed deeply within.
With love and with gratitude,
This little girl sang out over and over and over again.
I am free.
You are free.
We are free.

Pause now,
Dear one.
Are you wandering through the dark?
Are you carrying around chains that are ready to be recognized and put down?
Your wings are strong.
The cage might feel safe,
But you no longer need it.
You are ready.
You are free to fly.
These chains that we create are just an illusion.
Yes,
That happened and perhaps this will be.
But now is reality and it is all that we have.
Every tumble,
Every fall,
Every step,
Every leap has led to our ability to now fly.
I release the heaviness as I open to the cage of now.
Every bone in my body and every ounce of my soul aches for the light that comes with freedom.
Casting away that which no longer serves even if it once had.
These chains that embraced me were false,
Comforting arms whispering to my heart that they knew best.
They were wrong.
And now I know.
Goodbye illusions,
Farewell false hope.
My mind is clear and my heart is strong.
And I smile as I now see you are separate from me.
Goodbye chains.
We are free.
