Grief work allows us to hold our sorrow,
Let it in,
Open your heart,
Unheld material burrows in.
Most things will be okay eventually,
But not everything will be.
Sometimes you'll put up a good fight and lose.
Sometimes you'll hold on really hard and realise there is no choice but to let go.
Acceptance is a small,
Quiet room.
That's a quote from Cheryl Strayed in Tiny Beautiful Things.
Another quote I love is from Thomas Lloyd Quayle's The bright side of the moon could not exist without the half wrapped in shadow.
A half-life is not substantial,
Not sustainable.
You cannot cut out half your heart and live.
Life is really made up of both happy things and the sorrows.
And we really have to feel it to be able to release it.
Reduce safety to get back our joy.
We need to come back to the now and be present.
Need to be in the unfolding,
Feel our pain.
Let our thoughts come so we can release them.
Just be.
Holding my breath is losing my breath.
Doesn't help me to hold it.
I need to let it go.
And just accept it as it is.
So let's just breathe.
Breathing in.
And breathing out.
So much easier.
Breathing in.
And breathing out.
Letting it be.
Gently.
Lightly.
Setting yourself free.
With ease.
Breathing in.
And let's extend that out breath.
Holding my breath is losing my breath.
The river needs to take the risk of entering the ocean.
Because only then will fear disappear.
Because that's where the river will know.
It's not about disappearing into the ocean.
But of becoming the ocean.
Khalil Gibran.
Courage is often visualised as fire.
The colour yellow.
In our body,
We find courage in our solar plexus.
Just under your ribcage.
It's the source of personal power.
It can hold us in fear and keep us stuck.
Or propel us forward.
Let's imagine a ball of yellow bright light.
Courage.
Sitting there in our solar plexus.
And let's breathe it in.
And breathe it out.
Visualising that colour.
And perhaps we can feel some warmth from that colour.
As it contracts and expands.
Expands with our breath.
As it fills up our solar plexus.
Breathing with us.
And filling us with courage.
To accept.
And let be.
And to set ourselves free.
With ease.
And to live with courage.
And confidence.
And possibility.
Moving forward.
Holding our grief gently.
Holding our pain gently.
Letting be.
Letting be.
Gently.
Gently.
Setting yourself free.
With ease.
Living with courage.
Confidence.
And possibility.
Breathing in.
And extending the out-breath.
Breathing in.
And extending the out-breath.
