Are the waves hitting you from every direction,
Washing out your life?
Do some days feel like a huge wave has knocked you down,
Taking your breath away,
Drowning you?
Are you fighting for air,
Fighting to keep your head above the water?
This happens to everybody.
It could be a job that we feel under a lot of pressure to meet deadlines,
Or are overwhelmed by our great workload.
It could also be the result of a less than perfect marriage,
Or a laundry list of chores and children's activities.
This feeling can also be caused by underlying emotions and stress brought on by incessant worry,
Whether it has validity or not.
Today you need to learn how to stay above those waves,
Swim or surf,
But stay above the water.
If it's the workload,
Ask for help,
Or if that's not possible,
Divide and conquer.
Divide your workload into smaller,
Manageable,
Conquerable piles and tackle one at a time.
This will give you a feeling of accomplishment,
One stack at a time.
If it's your marriage,
Work at it.
Every little effort you make will be seen by your spouse and hopefully appreciated.
But let's not forget our self-worth or happiness should not depend on another.
That is only for us to control.
If your spouse is not receptive to these kind gestures or offerings,
Then do something to better yourself and feel good about you.
And in time,
Maybe your spouse will come around.
And if not,
You are much stronger for how you have taken care of yourself.
If it's chores or children's activities,
Then also divide and conquer.
A couple chores a day instead of everything piled into one day.
Also have the kids pick one or two activities to stick to.
And then in a few months they can change to something else.
But too much activity causes stress on the children too.
Everyone,
Old and young,
Needs downtime.
If your sinking feeling is due to your own mind and the worry within,
It is time to take time out,
Breathe,
Regroup,
And stay in the moment.
This feeling will pass.
Try meditation.
Take time out to sit and have a cup of coffee.
Read a book.
Just take time out for you.
Do you.
Even close your eyes and take some deep breaths to refocus your thoughts,
Your mind,
And try the day again.
Remember,
Each day,
Each sunrise is a chance to start again.
Do better,
Be better,
And appreciate the moment.
Be free to ride the waves.
