This is A.
Lefebvre of Silvanusoli.
Let's work on cleaning out the clutter of your thought closet.
That inner cavity of thought that seems to open up and spill out every time you try to get some rest.
The thoughts that pull at the threads of your mind,
Insisting sleep will elude you.
Not this time.
This time,
We're going to take the threads of those thoughts,
Catch them between our fingertips,
And pull as they unravel.
If you have a thought.
One that pops in and hits repeat.
Step one.
Take a deep breath.
Release it in a sigh or a yawn.
Focus not on the words themselves,
But the sounds beyond them.
Is there quiet or perhaps soothing nature music?
A favorite smell?
Something that brings your mind into the sensory and away from thought.
If again,
The thought pops back up,
Focus on the sensory.
Maybe you have an edge of your garment that is nice and soft and open for the rubbing.
Or you might have the opportunity to focus on a sound in the background.
A humidifier.
Nature sounds.
The sound of a dog breathing.
A cat purring.
If the thought occurs to you again,
Repeat not now.
Now is a time for rest.
For deeply breathing in and slowly breathing out.
A time when thoughts can thin and stretch and disappear.
When it comes to thoughts that resurface and pull at our emotions,
At our concerns.
Move beyond them.
Because now is not the time for thought.
Now is the time for relaxation.
For rest.
For letting go.
Perhaps you can imagine the threads of those thoughts being pulled in the wind.
And opening your fingers to allow the thoughts to float away.
And focusing now on a sensation of relaxation.
Deep breath in.
Slow breath out.
Deep breath in.
Slow breath out.
If the thoughts return,
Remind them not now.
Imagine those thoughts as nothing more than squiggly lines of thread.
Find the thread's end and pull until it's just one long line.
Raise it into the imaginary air and let the wind carry it.
Imagine perhaps that a bird finds it and makes it a part of their nest.
A nest.
A nice calming symbol of rest and relaxation.
Where we need not worry that thoughts are meant to be unraveled and let go.
But you can rest.
Where the sounds of the night slowly quiet.
Where the thoughts can be pulled like a thread.
Until they are but a long thin line.
If a thought occurs to you,
Simply remind it not now.
Now is a time for rest.
Stretch into relaxation.
Focus on your own breathing.
And if a thought occurs to you,
Gently remind it not now.
Pull the thread of that thought until it's thin enough to be carried on the wind and let it go.
Focus on your breathing.
Deeply in.
Hold it for a second.
Slowly out.
Here we let go.
We let the thoughts drift away.
Because this isn't their time.
This isn't their space.
Here they are.
One dimensional.
Thin as a thread you can lift into the air and watch it float away.
In this space you can relax and rest and float into sleep.
This has been A.
Lefebvre of Solanocity.
Rest well.
