Welcome to this little introduction into EFT tapping.

So if you've never tapped before or you've seen someone tapping on their face and wondered what it's all about then you are in the right place because over the next few minutes I'm going to explain what tapping is,

Why it works and how to do it.

So by the end you'll have a much more better understanding of EFT.

So EFT stands for emotional freedom techniques.

It's often referred to as tapping or EFT tapping.

And it's really simple,

Gentle practice that combines tapping on very specific acupressure points on the face and upper body with focused attention on how you're feeling.

And these points pertain to energy meridians that are used in traditional Chinese medicine.

So it's a kind of like a blend of modern psychology and ancient wisdom in a way.

But don't worry if that sounds a bit weird because it's much simpler than it sounds.

Some people like to say it's like this emotional acupuncture.

So instead of using needles on these meridian points,

You're using your fingertips instead.

Now,

What you're doing when you tap is you're doing three things all at once.

OK,

So it does take a little bit of getting used to.

The first thing is,

Of course,

You're applying this gentle rhythmic pressure to these specific points on your face and body.

Secondly,

You're giving voice to what you're actually feeling by saying it out loud or in your mind through these specific phrases or affirmations,

Which I'll explain a bit more about later.

And finally,

You're holding a very specific thought or feeling or memory or event in your mind as you're doing it.

And we like to call this tuning in.

So we're doing these three things at once.

And telling your brain and your body that it's safe for you to settle.

Even when you're focusing on something that might be emotionally quite challenging.

And the interesting thing about it is all the amazing research that's out there.

So well over 100 peer-reviewed studies now.

Tapping can reduce cortisol,

Which is our primary stress hormone,

By up to 43%,

Which is pretty amazing,

With constant reductions in things like anxiety,

Emotional distress,

Cravings,

Phobias and even physical discomfort.

So it's an evidence based practice.

And in my experience,

Both personally and professionally,

It genuinely works.

And I've seen it work with so many of my clients as well.

Boosting and stress relief.

And I've been tapping myself since 2007.

So I'm really excited to show you how.

And we're going to start with the tapping points.

So there are nine points,

Standard points that we use in EFT.

There are some extra ones,

But I won't go into those today.

So I'd like you to follow along with me as I show you each one and we start tapping together.

So you're going to be tapping firmly but gently.

So imagine the kind of pressure as if you're drumming your fingers on a desk or just knocking really softly on a door.

Both sides adapting to your own comfort so at some points you feel like actually I want to just tap with one hand here that's completely fine So the first point that we tap on in EFT is the side of the hand.

And this is this fleshy outer edge just down from your little finger.

And you tap here with your opposite hand using,

You can use two,

Three or four fingers here.

And this is where we begin our tapping sequence.

Okay the next point is the eyebrow so this is the inner inner inner corner of your eyebrow right where the hair begins and you tap here gently with two fingers or three fingers if you like one side or both.

The next point then is follow down,

You go to the side of the eye and this is the outer corner of the eye,

Just on the bone.

Not on the temple,

So just tap gently here on the bone.

The next point is under the eye,

So directly below the centre of the eye on the bony ridge of the cheek.

The next point is under the nose.

So this is the small area between your nose and upper lip.

The next point is the chin point.

So just below your lower lip in the center of the chin.

Then we have the collarbone point so this is just below the actual collarbone so feel for your collarbones it's just that soft area underneath that This is my favourite tapping point.

It's a lovely point for releasing tension.

So I often tap here if I'm out and about or,

You know,

Just want a quick stress relief,

I'll tap here.

The next one is under the arm.

So about a hands width underneath your armpit,

Just in line with the front of your chest.

And then finally the top of the head,

Which is like just on the crown here.

You can tap here with your fingers spread gently.

I like to kind of have my fingers like this as I tap here.

So that is the nine tapping points.

People sometimes think or worry that they're not tapping on exactly the right spots,

But as long as you're roughly in that area,

You're all good,

Okay?

And then finally,

When we're tapping,

We're thinking about what to say.

So every tapping sequence begins with what we call a set up statement.

So it has two parts to it.

You name exactly what you're feeling and then you offer yourself some acceptance.

So it sounds a bit like even though I feel this specific feeling,

Such as that could be feeling stressed about work,

Feeling angry about stuck in traffic,

Feeling anxious about going to a meeting.

So even though I have this or feel this blah blah blah,

I love and accept myself.

The key really with tapping is to be specific.

So the more precisely that you can name what you're feeling,

Where you're feeling it in your body,

What triggered it,

The more effectively the tapping can work.

So after you've gone through your setup statement three times,

Then you move through the tapping points.

And what you're saying here is you're repeating what we call short reminder phrases.

So these are just a few words that keep you really tuned into what you're working on.

So as an example,

That could be on the eyebrow or this dress about work.

Side of the eye this tension in my shoulders Under the eye,

I feel so frustrated.

And so on.

So you just keep repeating things until you've completed one full round ending at the top of the head.

So in the beginning,

You know,

When people are first starting out with tapping,

They find it much easier to follow along with tap along videos or tap along audios or scripts,

Which is great.

But please remember to tune into your specific problem or issue and change the wording to suit your situation.

So you need to say things how you'd really say them so they unlock your personal experience.

All right.

So that really is the foundation of EFT tapping.

You've got these nine points.

Set up statement and reminder phrases and a real willingness to be honest about your feet about how you're feeling and that's really all you need and some people worry that they're expressing or saying negative things just remember no emotion is negative at all so what we're doing is we're expressing the truth of how we're feeling so that we can release it so whether you choose to start tapping on your own or follow along with audios and videos good luck with it and happy tapping

Thanks. Found this from your comment on my review. I've seen EFT done quite a bit but never known why- so this is helpful.
