Take a deep breath and settle into your bed.

Make yourself perfectly comfortable under your covers and on your pillow.

Look around your room and notice some of the comforting things you find.

Do you have a special night light?

A special pillow?

Or blanket?

Maybe a stuffed animal to snuggle close with?

When you're ready with these things and all set to be tucked in just right to hear the story,

Off we'll go.

Take a deep breath again all the way down to your belly and notice how your body feels.

Pay attention to your feet,

To your legs,

To your belly,

To your arms and your shoulders and your face and your head.

Wiggle any part of you that feels tight or uncomfortable or maybe just needs to wiggle.

As you breathe in and out,

Feel any parts of you that are tired or painful and imagine that your body is slowly healing any aches that you felt today and soothing any cuts or scrapes or bumps that happened while you were playing.

Imagine your feet softening,

Your legs softening,

Your belly softening,

Your arms and shoulders softening and your face and head softening.

Let your neck muscles relax into your pillow until you feel so relaxed and still that you almost feel as soft as your pillow or your blanket or your stuffed animal friend.

And now close your eyes and imagine that you see in the distance a beautiful seahorse and a friendly turtle coming near to you.

They wave and smile and let you know that they will be taking you on a magical bedtime trip to the edge of the ocean to show you where they live.

With a swirl of your favorite color and a gentle breeze across your body,

They float you up high into the sky.

And when you come down,

You're on a beach,

A beach that's just the right size for you.

You're surrounded by soft warm sand and seashells sprinkled here and there.

Imagine that you're sitting or lying down,

Whichever is more comfortable,

Either on a blanket or right on the sand.

You can see the waves of the ocean rolling in and out quietly and steadily.

The waves sparkle and dance as they flow onto the beach and back out to sea.

And they sound a lot like your breath going into your body and flowing back out.

Soon your breaths in and out match the waves exactly.

The sun begins to set in the sky and as you watch from your very own beach,

The sky begins to turn from beautiful blue to sunset colors of purple,

Pink,

Orange,

And red as the golden sun drops lower in the sky.

As you are quietly gazing out at the ocean,

You see a tiny crab out of the corner of your eye.

He's hopping along at the edge of the water,

Sideways and silly,

And you see that in his little claw is a beautiful rose colored jewel,

Sparkling in the setting sun.

As the tiny crab passes by you sitting there,

He tosses you this pink jewel.

You feel a little surprised,

But you reach out to catch it in your hands and it feels warm and smooth.

The deep pink seems to glow and spread out all through your body as you hold it close.

And as the color fills you up,

You feel love and you feel safe and you feel comfortable.

It feels really nice to take a deep breath this way.

After a minute,

You see your turtle friend splashing and plopping in the shallow water just beyond the beach.

Your turtle flips and somersaults in the waves and seems very proud of those gymnastics.

You see that your turtle has found some sea turtle friends to play with,

And for a minute you watch them all plunking around in the bubbly waves.

One of the sea turtles is more colorful than the others.

Each section of her shell is a different rainbow color.

She looks up at you and smiles,

And you see that in her mouth she holds a sparkly blue jewel.

She swims toward you offering her jewel and tosses it to you from the edge of the waves.

As you catch it in your hands,

You feel the cool shimmer of this beautiful stone.

As the bright and shimmery blue color fills your body,

Your heart feels light and your muscles feel strong and soft.

You know how fun it is to do what those turtles are doing.

Somersaults make you happy too.

You whisper a thank you to the turtle and press the jewel to your heart.

As you watch your turtle friends do a few more tricks in the waves,

You notice how your body feels strong and happy,

And a little more sleepy than you felt before.

Your turtle friend,

Also feeling sleepy after all of that tumbling,

Says goodbye to his friends in the surf and comes to sit by you on the beach.

After another minute,

You catch a glimpse of your seahorse friend popping its head out of the water far out in the waves.

Your seahorse disappears and then reappears,

As if diving to the bottom of the sea.

You think this seems like a fun game,

And you're glad that your seahorse is enjoying this magical trip too.

As your seahorse disappears and resurfaces,

You see that this seahorse has another jewel.

This time,

It's sparkly and bright green,

Like the plants that grow deep under the waves.

Your seahorse brought this gem all the way up to the beach,

Just for you to hold.

As your seahorse friend carries it right to you and places it in your hands,

You can feel the powerful calm of the whole entire ocean.

As you hold this jewel in your hands and the rich,

Soothing green fills your body,

You feel so lucky to have found this special place with these special friends.

You place the green jewel next to the pink one and the blue one,

All three sparkle as the last rays of the sun glint upon them.

You know that you are part of this magical world,

And you send out a thank you to the ocean for the wonderful gifts it gave you tonight.

You know that you will enjoy sharing the peace,

Kindness,

Calm and love that you found here at your beach in your very own way with the people in your life.

But you can start tomorrow,

For tonight has been full of adventure and now it's time to sleep.

Your turtle and seahorse friends float you in the air and take you right back to your cozy bed,

In your familiar room.

And as you drift to sleep for the night,

You can almost hear the soft rolling waves from your beach.

Good night
