The Azhwars were South Indian Tamil poet-saints from the 7th -12th century AD who composed songs of devotion, and love for the divine. This particular song is from Thirumazhisai Azhwar who lived in the 7th century. The poem has been set to the beautiful Carnatic Raga Sindhu Bhairavi with an 8 beat rhythmic cycle. The song is sung by Anaga Srinivas. The forest sounds are by Xavier Serra recorded in a Kerala Forest. The river sounds are from Julian Alexander Colbus.
