An inherent irony exists in our concept of pain.
Physical pain is immediate but temporary.
Emotional pain,
However,
Festers over time,
And it's stored in our mind,
Our body,
And spirit until we consciously release it from our space.
Obviously,
We want to avoid physical pain.
If you were to stub your toe,
Certainly you wouldn't voluntarily stub your toe more than once.
Especially if your toe was already bloody and bruised,
You would never continue to subject yourself to physical pain.
Not voluntarily,
But too often we subject ourselves to emotional pain and turmoil.
We place ourselves in relationships that don't serve us,
Jobs that aren't fulfilling or engaging.
We place ourselves into circumstances that inherently cause us emotional pain,
And that's a lot like kicking a wall over and over again.
When your toe is already bloody and bruised,
Continuing to kick it over and over,
Expecting at some point that it would begin to feel good.
Well,
Our emotional wounds are more painful than the physical ones.
They last for much longer.
Physical pain will eventually dissipate,
But emotional pain can stay with us for our entire lifetime if we don't let it go,
Especially if we subject ourselves to the same circumstance that caused the pain in the first place.
So stop kicking the wall and create the life you want by letting go of what no longer serves you so you don't find yourself kicking a wall over and over,
Hoping that the pain will disappear.
Blessings,
Blessings,
Blessings.
