Realizing who we are is quite crucial, especially in this modern way of living, because during our lives we adopt various labels and roles that affect massively the way we think and behave. The problem is that we identify with these roles, concepts, and ideas, so we cannot show our true self, our authentic self, the self that is hiding behind all these masks. When we become authentic, we can go after our personal dreams and make the world a little bit better! So, ask yourself "Who Am I?"

Hi,

Our topic today is who am I?

But if it's your first time listening to one of my meditations,

My name is Pierros from Coaching Under the Tree and I help people to overcome the frustration and anxiety of day-to-day life through a blend of coaching and meditation.

Realizing who we are is quite crucial,

Especially in this modern way of life,

Because we all adopt some labels,

Some roles that don't really mean much to us or if they mean we really identify with them and we cannot really show our true self,

We cannot be authentic and this is something that we really need nowadays.

We all need to be a little bit more authentic,

So we can go after our personal dreams and make the world a bit better.

If you are ready and would like you to find a comfortable position,

You can lie down on the floor or on your bed or you can sit down on the floor or on a chair.

I would suggest you to have your eyes closed so you don't have any visual distractions.

And to begin with,

Please take a few deep breaths,

Inhale deeply and exhale fully.

Inhale deeply again and exhale.

And as a first step,

I want to ask yourself,

Who am I?

And observe the answers that come up.

The thoughts or images that come up may have to do with your name,

Your nationality,

Your job.

Without judgment,

Just acknowledge whatever label or image you have.

And now,

I would like you to shift and focus your attention to the sounds,

To any sound you hear right now.

Do you name the sounds?

And if you do,

Does the word that you use completely describes the sound?

Now shift your attention to your breathing,

Is it voluntary or not?

Is it deep or shallow?

Can you consciously slow it down or speed it up?

Are you able to describe how you do it?

As a next step,

I would like you to slowly open and close one of your hands and notice how it happens.

Can you describe how you do it?

Do you give a command to your hand to open and to close?

Next,

I would like you to focus your attention to your heart.

Are you beating it?

If not,

Then who?

Try to consciously slow down the beating of your heart,

As you did before with the breathing.

Is your effort to change the beating a command?

Now,

As before,

Ask yourself who am I?

Do you compare your current answers to the previous ones?

Can you identify your ego's attempts to make up the answers?

For the next few moments,

I would like you to focus on what you are not.

The negation will help you to dissolve all labels,

All roles.

Slowly and gradually,

Remove one by one all concepts,

All ideas from you.

And if your mind is wandering,

If you are distracted,

Without judgments,

I would like you to bring your attention back to focusing on what you are not.

Try to remove all labels and concepts and ideas from you one by one.

See what is really behind everything.

As you open and close your hand,

As you beat your heart,

Maybe in a similar way you also burn the Sun.

Maybe in a similar way you also give rise to the whole Universe.

Who are you now?

Now,

As this meditation has come to an end,

I would like you to come back to your body.

Start moving your fingers,

Your toes,

Take a few deep breaths.

And when you feel ready,

You can open your eyes.

I hope you found this meditation helpful,

Perhaps thought-provoking.

I'm really interested to hear about the labels and roles and whatever comes up for you when you ask yourself who am I.

Thank you for listening and take care.

Thank for these questions. I had asked Spirit to make this meditation meaningful for me before I started. What I learned at the end was that "I am a beautiful reflection of my inner light". Blessings and namaste 🙏

Hello Spiros, I am doing this meditation for 28 days straight and noting the outcome every day. I am on day three. So far, so good. It is looking as if I will have a long list that provides me with clarity and positivity. Thinking about what you are *not* is surprisingly helpful. This seems to be having a positive effect on my motivation and self belief. Thank you.
