Hello and welcome to this guided meditation for headache and migraine relief.
Please get comfortable and make sure that your room is nice and dark.
If you can't block out all the light,
Maybe placing an eye pillow over your eyes,
Or even a cool flannel or cloth.
Whether you're experiencing a headache or migraine right now,
Or are looking to prevent the oncoming of this headache or migraine,
I really hope this meditation can bring some soothing energy and relaxation into this moment for you.
And we're going to begin together here today by taking a few deep breaths,
Inhaling deeply through the nose and exhaling slowly through the mouth.
And as we breathe in and out,
We are choosing to release any tension that we might be holding onto,
Allowing every breath to become slow and steady,
Maybe having a big sigh.
Now let's bring our awareness to the top of the head.
Imagine a warm and gentle light is hovering over this area.
And as the light touches the scalp,
It begins to melt slowly down the sides of the head,
Coming over your ears and down into the jaw,
Encouraging the jaw to relax,
To stop clenching.
And then this beautiful light drips down the front of the face in a slow,
Slow flow over the forehead,
Letting go of tension here,
Over the eyebrows and the eyes,
And we're letting go of any tension we're holding here.
You don't need to squeeze your eyes closed.
They can just rest gently as the light soothes down over the temples,
Across the cheekbones and down over the mouth and into the neck.
This warm,
Beautiful light has covered your entire scalp,
The back of the head,
The sides and the face.
And it's now going to soothe its way down into the neck.
Now our neck holds a lot of tension for us and often can be a trigger for a headache or a migraine.
So let's spend a moment completely focusing on the movement of this light as it spreads down the neck,
Breathing deeply,
Envisioning nothing except this light moving its way slowly down the neck,
Loosening those tight muscles as it flows.
And from the neck it will then begin its descent into the shoulders,
Another place where we hold lots of tension,
But you know now that this energy is just going to,
This white light is going to soothe its way from the neck and into the shoulders and as it does providing an ease to the muscles and a sense of lightness.
Now this light is going to intuitively wish to move down the spine to gently relax all the muscles that run alongside each vertebra,
Helping us to let go of any discomfort and any tension and allow the energy to flow and nurture and help you unwind a little bit more and noticing whether your breath could go a little bit deeper.
Just breathing through the nose now,
Inhaling slowly,
Exhaling even more slowly,
Using the breath as this calming rhythm,
This gentle wave that moves in and out and asking for our breath to help create more space because right now it might feel like everything feels tight and cramped and under pressure and so using the image of this beautiful white light,
This energy that's moving down the spine and the power of your own breath,
We are creating more space and as we create more space we can relax more deeply and with this beautiful energy,
This white light completely encompassing the spine,
We're also going to set an intention for the nervous system to allow the nervous system to come into a completely relaxed state and in doing so to take some pressure off of any pain that we might be experiencing and in our mind's eye we are going to visualize a gentle stream of water flowing down over the head and this water is healing water.
It is perfectly cool and equipped to remove any pain and tension that you might be experiencing and as it pours over your head,
Exactly where the pain is coming from,
Imagine that these healing waters are washing away any lingering discomfort and it's simply pouring off of you and leaving your body,
Staying present with the beautifully gentle flow of the water and affirming to yourself,
I am releasing tension,
My body is healing,
I am surrounded by healing energy and I allow it to flow through me.
My head is light and my mind is clear and now finding a place of peace and quiet within you,
Choosing to remain in this relaxed state as I leave you here to fully sink into relaxation as you let go and move past any pain or suffering you are experiencing.
