Hello and welcome to this sleep story,

Evie and the Sleepy Treehouse.

In the heart of a vast and magical forest,

Where ancient trees stood tall,

There lived a tiny pixie named Evie.

Evie's home was a quaint treehouse,

Nestled high in the branches of a grand oak tree.

Her little home was woven from twigs,

Leaves and moss.

She had created a cosy and warm sanctuary where she always felt safe and loved.

Although Evie loved her home,

She seemed to be the only pixie in the world that struggled to fall asleep at night.

While all the other lights of her pixie friends scattered across the forest trees all went out as they fell asleep,

Evie found herself frustrated yet again that sleep seemed to evade her.

Fluttering her delicate wings,

Evie perched herself on the edge of her treehouse balcony.

Looking up to the sky,

She watched as the stars twinkled and the clouds moved over the brightness of the moon.

Determined that she wouldn't spend forever trying to fall asleep tonight,

Evie climbed back into her treehouse and decided to prepare herself a bed.

Turning out most of her fairy lights,

Leaving just one by her cosy,

Moss bed,

She tidied up her little room,

Which was filled with soft,

Colourful fabrics and tiny pieces of furniture crafted from twigs and leaves all found in the forest.

She fluffed her pillows,

Which were made from dandelion fluff,

And arranged her blanket woven from spider's silk.

After she changed into her softest pyjamas,

She climbed into bed,

Turning out her last light.

But despite her efforts to create a comfortable sleeping space,

Evie still felt wide awake.

Her mind was so busy,

And she felt like the only pixie in the world that struggled with restless thoughts and busy thinking.

She sighed softly and allowed her breath to come slower and slower,

Encouraging her mind and body to quieten,

To slow down.

She closed her eyes and continued to do these slow,

Deep breaths as she allowed the calming noises of the forest to envelop her.

In the distance,

She could hear the soft hooting of an owl,

Calling out to the night.

The gentle rustling of leaves created a soothing melody,

Almost as though the forest and the trees were trying to sing her into a lullaby.

Evie smiled to herself,

Feeling a sense of peace begin to settle in her little heart,

As she continued to listen to the tranquil sounds that surrounded her.

She also reminded herself that she was perfectly safe.

She knew that her other pixie friends were nestled in their own treehouses nearby.

She knew that her own treehouse,

That she had built with her own bare hands,

Was strong and sturdy where it sat nestled in the branches.

The thought of her strong and safe house,

And of her friends nearby,

Brought her so much comfort.

She knew that she wasn't alone,

And that the forest was a safe place for all pixies.

And although she felt that she had begun to relax,

And that her thoughts had slowed down more than before,

Evie had an idea to create a special place to sleep.

Pushing back her covers,

And fluttering her wings,

She flew around the treehouse,

Gathering some soft leaves,

Some vines,

And a soft piece of fabric.

With her nimble fingers,

She fashioned a delicate hammock,

Weaving the vines together,

And securing it between two sturdy branches.

Once her hammock was complete,

Evie brought in some pillows and a blanket,

And let herself be gently cradled by the swaying motion of the hammock.

The wind gently blew it back and forth.

She closed her eyes and snuggled down into the covers,

Taking a deep breath and inhaling the fresh,

Earthy scent of the forest.

And as she lay in that gentle rocking of the hammock,

Evie began to focus on the sounds around her once more.

The breeze whispering through the leaves,

Creating a soothing rustling sound.

The gentle chirping of crickets,

And the distant croaking of frogs by the nearby pond.

The harmony of these natural melodies began to lull her into an even deeper state of relaxation.

As Evie swayed gently back and forth in the hammock,

She began to imagine that she was being rocked to sleep by the loving arms of the forest.

She thought of the strong branches supporting her,

A soft blanket,

The stars twinkling above,

Like little guardians watching over her sleep.

With each passing moment,

Evie felt her eyelids grow heavier.

The rhythmic swaying of the hammock,

Combined with the soothing sounds of the forest,

Was hard to resist.

And as she drifted off to sleep,

Evie felt a profound sense of gratitude for her home in the ancient oak tree,

And the magical forest that provided such comfort and protection.

She knew that if she struggled to fall asleep again,

She could always find solace in her homemade hammock,

And the gentle embrace of nature.

And so,

With the moonlight casting a beautiful glow over her little tree house,

Evie the pixie finally surrendered to sleep.
