Welcome to our practice today.
I'm grateful that you're here.
As you settle in.
To offer yourself comfort and space and permission to take a true break.
Bringing your attention inward.
Today,
I'd like to focus on how our lives are shaped by how we choose to perceive our experiences.
As we practice,
I'll be offering you statements on two major subjects.
Control.
And creativity.
Some may hold true for you.
Some you might not agree with.
The intention here today is to offer you a deeper understanding of your own trends in perception.
If you haven't already fine-tuned your position to be sure that you feel comfortable,
Please do that.
If you enjoy practicing with your eyes closed,
I invite you to do that now.
And if that doesn't feel comfortable,
Maybe choose to soften your gaze so you're not fully focused on any one thing.
And now let's listen to the breath.
And maybe deepen the breath.
And maybe take a deep breath and offer yourself a sigh of relief.
And now just let that go.
Imagine the word.
Control.
It's spelling.
It's shape.
And pay attention to your immediate response to its connotation.
You might notice a change in your breath.
Or in the tension in your body.
And just sit with that for a moment.
And now.
.
.
Visualize the word create.
It's spelling,
It's shape.
Maybe there's a color associated with it in your mind.
And its connotation.
Control masquerades as responsibility.
Control is often mistaken for maturity.
Control keeps the system in a constant state of micro-alert.
As those statements rest with you,
Offer yourself deeper breathing.
Creation is accessible when in a flow state.
Creating is guided,
Not controlled.
Creation is born from inspiration.
As you allow those statements to sink in,
Breathe your way through them.
Maybe visualizing drawing in the ones that sound true to you.
And exhaling those that you say are not true.
Urgency has a tendency to narrow perception.
Creativity.
Is supported.
By desire.
Our lives are shaped by how we choose to perceive our experiences.
When we give ourselves the gift of suspending judgment,
It opens space for real listening It makes room for peace.
And allows access to creativity.
Judging each circumstance consumes internal resources through emotional micro burn and it's tiring.
What a treat it is to let that go.
Take a break to free yourself.
From the pressure to judge.
If we perceive these life experiences with resistance or fear.
We might choose to respond by trying to control.
If we choose to perceive these experiences of life.
With acceptance of what is.
Or a loving approach,
Or even through the lens of forgiveness.
Creativity becomes available to us.
Take a few moments to think of some of the life circumstances you're experiencing.
And perhaps pass them through the lens of forgiveness.
How can you look at that situation?
Undercurrent of love.
Can you look at that situation?
And accept that it is.
By no means does acceptance mean condoning.
Acceptance is simply releasing resistance to the fact that it happened.
Control masquerades as responsible action.
Creativity is driven.
By desire.
Check in with your breath now.
Has your body changed its level of tension in response to these ideas?
Can you breathe relaxation into any of the areas that may have tensed up?
Or maybe you can notice where you have released and imagine that release flowing to all the other cells in your body.
Letting the breath move through you like a wave in the ocean.
Infinite waves.
Maybe some of the statements said today.
Bringing a fresh perspective for you.
Maybe some offer you the insight that you have some thoughts you'd like to examine.
My wish for you is that through any pathway,
Possible and accessible.
You access.
Your inspired creativity.
Through each and everything,
Whether it's judged good or bad.
And maybe even.
You get to practice suspending judgment.
And just experiencing what is.
To find your way.
Into your creative response.
Take a deep breath in now at your own pace,
Maybe through the nose,
Filling all the way up.
And release through the mouth,
Maybe even with a sigh.
Allow yourself that sense of permission.
That nothing is expected of you that's different from what is right now in this moment.
Let's slowly begin to awaken the body.
Maybe that looks like opening your eyes.
Or giving yourself a stretch.
Maybe just shifting your weight or changing your location.
And slowly coming back to the pace of your day.
And the things that are next.
Remembering.
The creativity.
Is always just one step away.
Through your own perception.
Thank you so much for choosing to practice with me today.
I appreciate you.
Be well and thrive.
