Let's talk about self-care today.
But first,
Let me ask you something.
When was the last time you said to yourself,
I love you?
Not in front of a mirror because someone told you it's a good exercise.
Not as a spiritual affirmation.
Not as a trick to make you feel better.
I mean a natural,
Genuine moment in your day where you thought,
I'm awesome,
I did so well,
I love myself for how well I handled this.
Most people never do.
And that's one of the reasons why self-care feels so hard sometimes.
We live in a world where self-care is everywhere.
But it's not about bubble baths,
Spa days,
Or organizing your crystals.
It goes much deeper.
It's how you relate to yourself.
How aware you are of your own needs and how much you listen to them.
And if you don't value yourself enough,
You won't consistently take care of yourself.
Makes sense,
Right?
And remember this,
When you take care of yourself first,
You're better with your kids,
Your partner,
Your family,
With everything.
And yes,
I know,
This isn't new,
But it's still relevant.
Self-care is not indulgent.
It's not a luxury.
It's a necessity.
I know it's not easy sometimes.
There are old programs and beliefs that get in the way.
Creating a better relationship with yourself doesn't happen overnight.
But especially during this time of year,
Taking care of your own energy might be even more important.
So my invitation for you today is this.
First,
Become clear about what caring for yourself looks like for you.
Not for your friend,
Not for your sister,
Not for your dog or anyone else.
For you.
Then write it down and take moments throughout the day to remind yourself and check in with the things that matter to you.
Everybody is different.
But everybody needs love and attention.
And it starts with you.
And by the way,
Did you know that most people take better care of their car than their own body?
It's shocking.
Choose to not be one of them.
Just like you wouldn't put garbage fuel in your car,
Don't feed your body,
Your mind or your soul with the junk either.
Take care of yourself like it's the most important thing.
Because it is.
Much love.
