When you teach your body to ride a bike or play the clarinet,
You create in your body a long-term memory of the skill called muscle memory.
You produce a physiological blueprint so that even if you take time off from the task,
You come back to it faster and easier than a beginner.
Scientists and musicians have taken advantage of muscle memory for millennia.
Surprisingly,
Building willpower is analogous to building muscle memory.
This meditation awakens your deepest dormant soul determination.
This resolve then starts to improve your life.
The more you do this meditation,
The quicker you regenerate your willpower.
The game changer here is that you actually begin to accumulate willpower equity.
In this meditation,
We will tap into your spiritual muscle memory and increase your willpower.
We will do this with three simple spiritual exercises.
We call them drills,
Much like a spiritual workout.
In the first exercise,
We will practice becoming a detached observer and then steering our thoughts.
This is an invitation for you to shift between observing your thoughts,
Letting them wander,
And then steering them.
Don't worry about doing this perfectly.
Just do the best you can.
The more you do it,
The easier it becomes.
Let's begin by breathing in and out deeply a few times.
Observe your thoughts as you would a PowerPoint presentation.
Just continue to observe them as you would watch cars go by.
You're simply watching the traffic of your mind without judgment.
Now gently but firmly shift to seeing yourself as a luminous being of light,
Completely peaceful.
Next,
Let your thoughts go.
Just let them ramble on if that's what they want to do.
Now come back and begin to observe the traffic of your mind.
Don't judge or analyze.
Simply be a detached observer of your thoughts.
Slowly begin to see yourself as a luminous being of light,
Completely peaceful.
And now let your thoughts meander around through your stream of consciousness.
Gently begin to observe your thoughts.
Continue to observe them as you would watch cars go by.
And now see yourself as a luminous being of light,
Completely relaxed and still.
In the second exercise,
We will practice seeing ourselves as a luminous being of light in the body and a being of light whose real home is in the world of light.
This is an invitation for you to shift between the two states.
Again,
Don't worry about doing it perfectly.
It's simply an exploration.
Just whatever comes to you,
Breathe in and out deeply and slowly and gently move into your serene center.
Set yourself as a soul,
A luminous being of light in the body.
See yourself as light energy behind the eyes,
The life force of the body.
Now gently shift to being luminous light in our sweet home,
A world of transcendent peace and silence.
Now come back and be the soul,
A luminous light in the body,
Your weightless and distinct suspended behind your eyes in this body.
And now see yourself in the world of pure light and consciousness.
You are like a star in this beautiful spiritual universe.
Slowly come back and embrace yourself as a luminous conscious light in the body.
One last time,
Let's visit our glorious eternal home,
A beautiful world of light.
See yourself floating here,
Weightless and free.
Gently come back to the body to do the third exercise.
For this exercise,
I want you to remember that the Supreme Soul loves you more than you love the Supreme.
God remembers you and is gently inviting you to set your heart in remembrance.
Keep courage during this exercise and don't think too much whether you're doing it perfectly or not.
We will remember the Supreme being with love while considering ourselves to be souls.
Take a few inhalations and exhalations and relax your body.
Slowly and gently shift your attention inward and see yourself as an eternal soul,
A spark of light,
The thinking,
Feeling being in this amazing body.
With your mind's eye,
See in front of you a glorious luminous being of light,
Alive and welcoming.
Keep seeing this glorious being for a few more moments.
Now see yourself as an eternal soul,
Conscious light energy.
Again,
Gently see in front of you the most beautiful,
Perfect,
Enlightened soul in the universe.
Waves of love are emanating from this soul.
Now shift your focus to yourself as a being of light.
The waves of love and light are reaching you.
You feel so loved and accepted by the Supreme Soul.
One last time,
With your third eye,
See and feel the Supreme Soul,
The ocean of love,
A beautiful jewel of light,
Of love.
You feel connected,
Protected and ecstatic.
Gently come back to here and now.
When you repeatedly do these spiritual drills,
You will experience your higher self.
This will give you the inspiration and the determination to keep doing them and you slowly acquire the spiritual muscle memory of willpower.
