Hello my friends,
To begin this meditation,
I welcome you to be still,
Quiet your thoughts,
Relax your body,
Calm your mind.
Close your eyes if it is safe and helpful to do so.
Posture your mind toward non-judgment,
Especially toward yourself in this meditation,
As meditation is not about what we are or are not getting accomplished.
It is a time to just be and embrace a heart and mindset of peace and loving kindness.
All it takes is three deep breaths in and out to move from our sympathetic nervous system to our parasympathetic nervous system.
The sympathetic nervous system is the system that takes over when we are in fear or in danger.
It is our fight,
Flight,
Or freeze response.
This makes it very difficult to make creative or rational decisions.
Creative and rational decisions are made when we are in the parasympathetic nervous system.
So let's just practice taking three deep breaths together right now.
Deep breath in,
Hold it for a second,
And let it back out.
And again,
Inhale,
Hold,
And exhale.
And then one more time,
Inhale,
Hold it,
And exhale.
And the next time you're in a situation where you need to come down from your sympathetic nervous system,
I invite you to listen to this meditation again and let it guide you back into the parasympathetic system.
If this meditation is not available to you at the time,
Remember all you need to do is take a few long,
Slow,
Deep breaths in and back out.
