In the beginning was the conversation,
And the conversation was with God,
And the conversation was God.
Hello my beloveds,
Welcome to today's meditation on this eighth day of Lent.
Today's meditation is inspired by John chapter 1.
As we prepare our hearts and minds for meditation,
Let's close our eyes,
If it's safe and helpful to do so.
Relax your body,
Quiet your mind,
And slow your spirit.
Observe an overall spirit of stillness.
If you have any distracting thoughts,
Simply let them pass through like clouds,
Without judgment or admonishment.
Observe an overall attitude of non-judgment,
And embrace a heart and mindset of peace and loving-kindness.
In the beginning was the Logos,
And the Logos was with God,
And the Logos was God.
In the beginning was the conversation,
The conversation was with God,
And the conversation was God.
We're used to hearing Logos as word instead of conversation in this passage,
Aren't we?
And up until the fourth century,
Logos was translated as conversation,
So the early church would have likely read it as conversation.
I like it translated this way,
Because it invites us into participation.
In the beginning was the conversation,
In the beginning was the conversation,
The conversation was with God,
And the conversation was God.
Thank you for meditating with me today my friends.
Let us take this spirit of participation,
Of conversation with us as we go.
May grace and peace,
Light and love be with you.
