Hey friends,
Welcome to our Bible Meditations for Mental Health series.
Today's meditation is on Envy.
To begin,
I invite you to close your eyes,
Relax your body,
And quiet your mind.
Be still.
Adopt an attitude of gratitude and non-judgment,
Especially toward yourself.
And embrace a spirit of peace and loving-kindness.
Envy is comparing our lives to the lives of others in a way that diminishes our own.
It quietly erodes gratitude and replaces peace with restlessness.
And returns our attention outward,
Away from the goodness God is already offering us in the present moment.
Let's contemplate a few scripture passages that can help us in times of envy.
I have learned to be content,
Whatever the circumstances.
I have learned the secret.
Of being content in any and every situation.
Philippians chapter 4 verses 11 and 12 I don't know.
You alone are my portion and my cup.
You make my lot secure.
Shirley.
I have a delightful inheritance.
Psalm 16 verses 5 and 6.
A heart at peace gives life to the body,
But envy rots the bones.
Proverbs chapter 14 verse 30.
These passages gently invite us away from comparison and into contentment.
Peace grows when we learn to rest in what we have,
Rather than what we lack.
When God becomes our portion and our cup,
The heart begins to settle.
Contentment is not resignation.
It is a deep trust that what God provides is enough for this moment.
Adonai,
Teach my heart to rest in what you have given me today.
Free me from comparison.
And awaken gratitude within me.
Help me receive the portion you have placed in my life with peace and joy.
Amen.
Thank you for sharing this tender,
Sacred space with me,
My friends.
I look forward to guiding you again soon.
And until then.
.
.
May grace and peace.
Light and love.
Be with you.
