Everything I have taught you is so that you may have peace in me.

Here on earth you will have many trials and sorrows,

But take heart because I have overcome the world.

Everything I have taught you is so that you may have peace in me.

Here on earth you will have many trials and sorrows,

But take heart because I have overcome the world.

Because I have overcome the world.

I remember one time watching Finding Nemo with my kids,

And their reaction to the scene when Marlin promises Nemo that he'll never let anything happen to him.

Even the youngest of my children recognized it's a silly and impossible promise.

They certainly seemed to all resonate with Dory when she says,

That's a funny thing to promise.

Well,

You can't never let anything happen to him.

Then nothing would ever happen to him.

This however is the difference between us and God.

We cannot make outlandish promises like this with any hope of follow through.

God can.

God created the universe and all that is within it and holds it all together.

Yeshua makes us two promises in this passage.

That there will be trials and sorrows in life,

And that we can have peace.

True peace.

Everlasting peace.

I invite you to rest in Yahweh's promise of peace.

We will likely be unison in search of peace.

Everything I have taught you is so that you may have peace in me.

Where on earth you will have many trials and sorrows,

But take heart,

Because I have overcome the world.

I have overcome the world.

I have overcome the world.
