Can one realize nirvana?
Can one realize enlightenment?
True pleasure.
Once a king came to the Buddha and said that I have all the joys of the world.
I have all the pleasures of the world.
Can I still realize nirvana?
And the Buddha said,
Yes,
You can.
And then he gave him the path of Kala Chakra Tantra.
Anyway,
This talk is not about Tantra.
This talk is about something we usually overlook and that is the guilt of pleasure,
The guilt of joy.
We feel a lot of guilt around having happiness or joy.
And this comes usually from our religious conditioning because maybe we are conditioned to believe that you have to suffer.
If you want to be spiritual,
If you want to connect to God.
But that is not really true.
Because nirvana,
Enlightenment,
In this story,
As the Buddha said,
Can be attained.
Through pleasure.
Through joy.
Don't allow ourselves to experience joy to the fullest.
We have so much guilt around joy and pleasure.
If we are enjoying ourselves,
We are usually worrying that or feeling this guilt that how can I enjoy when a family member is suffering.
How can I enjoy when the world is suffering?
This is a problem,
Because if we don't enjoy ourselves,
How will the world be inspired?
How will others be inspired to enjoy themselves?
So,
It's so important to enjoy.
It is a human right to enjoy ourselves.
We all have the right to enjoy ourselves.
Enlightenment can also be attained through pleasure,
Through joy.
It's not only about enlightenment.
We have to let go of the idea that spirituality means that we have to suffer.
In fact,
We have to allow ourselves.
To experience great joy.
Osho heard this phrase and this phrase was Zorba the Buddha.
Zorba the Buddha means Enlightenment.
Through celebration.
Buddha is enlightenment and Zorba is celebration.
And so we can celebrate life and we can still be spiritual and we can still realize nirvana.
So I will leave you with a few questions.
Is the guilt that is preventing you from experiencing great joy.
Where is that guilt coming from?
How can you allow yourself,
Open yourself more to joy,
To pleasure?
What are you denying yourself?
What pleasures of the world are you denying yourself?
So reflect on these questions and I would love to know your reflections and thank you for watching this talk.
