Hello,
My name is Sam and welcome to this meditation to help you find self-love.
Loving yourself is the first step towards a happier life.
So let's begin.
First of all,
Find some ease and comfort in your physical body.
A relaxing position in a chair or lying down is perfect,
Whatever feels right for you today.
If it feels good,
Close your eyes softly and take a moment to enjoy this feeling of stillness.
Observe your breathing without trying to change it.
Just get a feel for the quality of your breath today.
Then bring a gentle awareness to the body.
Notice if you feel tense or relaxed.
There's no need to change that either.
Then,
Take a moment to relax your body.
Notice if you feel tense or relaxed.
There's no need to change that either.
Take a full breath in through your nose if possible and sigh the breath out through your mouth.
You can make a noise if you want to.
Then,
Take a deep breath in through your nose.
Take a full breath in through your nose if possible and sigh the breath out through your mouth.
You can make a noise if you want to.
Continue to take deep,
Full breaths in through the nose and out of the mouth.
As you breathe,
Become aware of how your body starts to soften.
Then,
Notice the changes that occur in your body.
You might notice that every time you breathe out,
The body relaxes a little more.
As you do this,
Bring gentle awareness to the whole body and see if you can identify any places where your body is holding tension.
Can you feel any areas of tightness or feelings of being closed off?
How about your mind?
Is it wandering off with different feelings?
Or are you able to stay anchored to the breath?
As you breathe,
Feel the tension in your body.
This self-observation is just to allow us to become more aware of where we are at today,
Physically and mentally.
It's good to know.
If it feels comfortable to do so,
Place one or both hands over your heart.
Continue to breathe in through the nose and out of the mouth,
And notice your lungs moving with each breath.
How does it feel with your hands placed over this tender area?
Is it soothing?
Complicative?
Can you feel the warmth of your body?
Is it calming?
Can you feel the warmth of your hands permeating through your clothing?
Allow your breathing to return to its own natural way without any need to control it.
If possible,
Just use your nose to breathe with.
As this signals to the body,
It's time to relax deeply.
Let each exhalation relax your body more,
And at the same time,
Start to release any negativity you may be holding onto in your mind.
You can imagine that the out-breath carries away dirty,
Dark thoughts,
And each in-breath brings in a bright white light of your love and positivity.
So we're breathing in lightness,
Breathing out darkness.
To help you breathe in,
You can think,
I am worthy,
And as you exhale,
Think,
I am enough,
Each time releasing any lingering negativity.
Take a few minutes to breathe and recite these mantras silently in your mind.
Notice how you feel as you say these words to yourself.
Breathing in lightness,
I am worthy.
Breathing out darkness,
I am enough.
Breathing out darkness,
I am enough.
And if your mind wanders,
Gently guide it back to the breathing and the mantra.
It's okay if this happens.
It's just the nature of the mind to do this.
You can have a passing interest in a topic of thoughts that come up,
But try to put a pin in them to come back to you later.
Now,
Let go of the breathing and the mantras and start to visualize yourself standing in front of a mirror.
Look into your own eyes.
What do you see?
What are your eyes telling you?
Is there love and joy behind them?
Pain and sadness?
Something else?
No more.
When you're seeing your reflection,
Tell yourself,
I love you and you are beautiful.
At first,
This could be hard to do,
So if these words aren't working for you right now,
Try saying,
I deserve happiness and I am enough instead.
Repeat this to yourself for a few moments longer.
Bring your awareness now to your heart space and find softness around the heart.
Imagine the white light from earlier is now accumulating around your heart,
Making it glow very brightly.
See this light as love radiating out from your heart,
Expanding and spreading into the rest of your body.
Direct your torso down through your arms and hands,
Into your belly,
Your hips,
Legs and feet,
Until eventually your whole body is filled with this warm,
Bright light of love.
Get a sense of comfort and healing,
Overcome your entire body.
Feel secure and safe,
Knowing that love is always available for you whenever you need it.
When it feels like the right time,
Allow some small movements to come into your body so that you feel a little more alert.
Take a deep breath or two to stretch and re-energize.
Before getting up,
Take a moment to absorb how you're feeling right now and give yourself a thank you for taking the time to do something wonderful for yourself.
I hope you enjoy this meditation and I wish you all the best.
