Relentless

This is a poem about recovery. There will be storms in our life. We will be blown around. And we have a choice how we respond. We can get up again. We can rise. Each time we make the choice to dust ourselves off and try again, we are choosing life. This is a poem about reslience. About determination. Yet above all, this is a poem about love.

What gives you your resilience?

Relentless.

Thrash me hard into the walls against the storm-raged pier.

Smash me down,

I'll take it all.

And still,

I'll reappear.

Scrape my legs against the rocks.

Push my head in the sand.

My soul has seen a thousand knocks.

Each time I fall,

I stand.

Engulf me with your reckless waves.

Drop me from seagulls' height.

You'll see with time that I won't cave.

I'll still get up and fight.

Rock my boat,

Deflate my sails,

Reduce my bones to dust.

The passion in my heart won't pale,

Nor will my truth or trust.

For life is precious and immense,

Each breath a brand new start.

And love is all that can make sense to my wide,

Hungry heart.

Wash me up into the bay,

Exhausted and confused.

For I'll come back in my own way.

It's yes to life,

I choose.
