The Spirit of Crow.
Wisdom.
Change.
And seeing what others miss.
Welcome,
Friends.
Let's begin this journey together.
Today I want to take you into the world of one of nature's most misunderstood and fascinating creatures.
The Crow.
Where you spot a crow.
Does it spark curiosity?
Or a little unease.
For centuries,
Crows have been wrapped in mystery and linked with darkness and superstition.
Part.
Look a little closer and you'll discover a story that turns all those old ideas upside down.
The crow isn't here to deliver fear.
Is here to shine a light on awareness,
And clarity.
It's your guide.
Helping us see what's hidden,
Think outside the box,
And trust ourself when life is shifting.
Maybe that's why crows seem to turn up right when we're standing at a crossroad.
Unsure.
Which way to go.
Not to warn us that something is ending.
But to whisper that something new is about to begin.
The crow invites us to lift ourselves up and see the bigger picture above our worries and questions.
Just like a crow soaring over the forest in a field,
We're encouraged to rise above the noise and glimpse life from a whole new angle.
How often do we get stuck staring at a single problem,
So close to it that we miss the other paths waiting just outside our line of sight?
Crow Medicine says,
Pause,
Look again.
You might just find there more here.
Than you've ever imagined.
Crows have earned their reputations as symbols of wisdom for good reason.
They're brilliant.
Scientists have watched,
Amazed,
As crows invent and use tools to solve problems that stump even some humans.
Think about that for a moment.
Picture this.
A crow searching for food.
Finding a stick.
Shaping it with its beak.
And reaching a snack hidden deep inside a tree branch.
Ingenious.
One famous crow even bent a straight piece of wire into a hook.
To solve a problem.
When I first heard that,
I realized how often we tell ourselves,
I don't have what it takes,
Or I'm missing something important.
What about Crow?
It looks at what's right in front of it.
And sees endless possibilities.
Not grumbling,
Not complaining.
Just creativity.
The crow works with what's already in its world.
And makes it enough.
As a spirit animal,
The crow asks.
What resources have you overlooked?
What gifts are already in your hands?
What if the answer is closer than you think?
Crow teaches us the art of resourcefulness,
Not through force,
Not through struggle.
But by staying curious.
Another remarkable thing about crows is their memory.
Researchers have found that crows can recognize human faces and remember them for years.
Years.
Running into someone,
Just once,
And never forgetting them,
Even years later.
That's Crow's superpower.
Their careful observers,
They notice details,
They pay attention.
Spiritually,
This reminds us of something important.
We are always being shown something.
Life is always speaking to us.
Nature is always speaking to us.
Our intuition is always speaking to us.
But many of us have forgotten how to listen.
The crow invites us to awaken our senses and become true observers.
To embody Crow's attentiveness qualities,
Try this.
When you are outside.
We'll pause for a moment.
And notice five things you can see.
Four things you can hear.
Three things you can feel,
Two things.
You can smell.
And one thing you can taste or imagine tasting.
Try watching the movement of birds or leaves in the wind,
Noticing patterns in the clouds,
Or following the call of a distant crow until you find its source.
Let your curiosity lead.
These simple practices open your awareness and help you notice the details and the messages that often go unseen.
To notice patterns,
To notice feelings,
To notice the small nudges and the quiet whispers that often hold the guidance we seek.
If a crow appears in your life,
Maybe it's nudging you to notice something hidden in plain sight.
Not with fear.
But with curiosity.
So let's look briefly at the folklore surrounding Crow.
Crow has inspired stories,
Beliefs and symbols in so many cultures around the world.
For example,
In the North mythology,
The god Odin was accompanied by two crows.
Or ravens in some versions.
Huggin'?
And Morning.
Who would fly across the world and bring him news.
Symbolizing thought and memory.
In ancient Celtic traditions,
Crows were seen as protectors and messengers from the other world,
Often appearing at times of battle to offer guidance or serve as omens.
As we explore these traditions together,
I invite you to think about your own heritage,
Memories or family tales.
If you have a story or a piece of folklore about crows from your background,
Consider sharing it.
Bringing our different experience forward can deepen our connection to the wisdom and mysteries that crows carry.
Many cultures recognize something special about these birds.
In Japanese mythology,
There is a sacred crow,
Known as Yatagurasa.
This divine crow appeared to guide a lost emperor towards his destination.
Notice this symbolism,
The crow was not there to walk the path for him,
The crow simply pointed the way.
Then let the journey unfold.
Isn't that exactly how spirit animals work in our lives?
They don't remove our challenges,
They help us navigate them.
Among the Lenape people of North America,
There is a beautiful story of Rainbow Crow.
Long ago,
The world became cold and frozen.
The animals were suffering.
And Rainbow Crow volunteered to fly to the Creator and bring back fire to save everyone.
The journey was difficult.
Smoke blankened the crow's beautiful rainbow feathers.
And its singing voice became the familiar call.
We're here today.
Because of this sacrifice,
The animals survived.
The story reminds us,
Real wisdom often grows from service,
Courage and compassion.
But sometimes,
The experiences that change us the most,
Are the very ones that reveal our true selves.
And then there is the other lesson I believe Crow brings.
Transformation.
Crow is at home with change.
Most of us,
Let's be honest,
Resisted.
We want certainties.
We want guarantees.
We want to know exactly how everything will work out.
But nature?
She never promised certainty like that.
Seasons change.
Weather changes.
The forests change.
River change.
And we change too.
Crow teaches us change isn't something to be feared.
It's something to embrace.
It's part of being alive.
A crow enters your awareness.
Ask yourself.
What am I being asked to see differently?
What would happen if I trust it?
This next step.
You don't need all the answers today.
The crow certainly doesn't see every mile of its journey when it takes flight.
It simply trusts his wings.
And perhaps.
.
.
That is one of Crow's greatest teachings.
Trust your wings,
Like the crow.
Trust the wisdom you've gathered.
Trust the lessons you've learned.
Trust the strength that carried you through every challenge before this one.
And trust that you can adapt to whatever comes next.
Before we wrap up,
I'd love to leave you with a simple reflection to bring Crow's wisdom into your daily life.
Try this gentle practice each day.
Take a moment to notice Crows.
Whether you see them in person,
Hear its call,
Or simply think of Crow,
Consider keeping a small journal with you to jot down your Crow sightings,
Or anything in sight that comes to you.
You might also spend a few quiet moments meditating on qualities of the crow,
His resourcefulness,
Curiosity,
Ability to adapt,
Let these moments of attention become small reminders to trust your own awareness and to stay open to the messages and lessons around you.
And next time you see crow,
Take a pause,
Take a breath.
Notice where you are.
Notice what's been on your mind.
Notice the question you've been asking life.
And then simply ask,
Crow.
What would you like me to see?
You may not receive an answer immediately,
But over the following hours or days,
Something may begin to shift.
A new idea.
A fresh perspective.
A forgotten opportunity.
A deeper trust in yourself.
Because.
.
.
That is the gift of crow.
It helps us see what was already there.
It reminds us that wisdom is not something we must chase.
It's something we learn to notice.
Thank you for spending time with Crow.
May it sharp your eyes,
Help you see clearly.
May Crow's cleverness spark your creativity solutions.
May it show courage and it lifts you as you grow and change.
And let Crow remind you,
Even in uncertain times,
You already have the wings you need.
And before we close,
I invite everyone to reflect together for a moment.
Can you think of a time when you trusted yourself?
Or embraced change.
Even when the path ahead felt uncertain.
If you feel comfortable,
I welcome you to share your story or a brief reflection.
You're very welcome to share them out loud within the group,
Discuss it with a partner,
Or write your thoughts down to share with others.
However you choose to participate,
By listening to each other,
Experiences,
We build community and remember ourselves that we are not alone in facing transformation.
And I say goodbye,
With lots of blessings,
From Crow.
