Hey,

Loves!

Today's talk is about thriving despite perfection.

In the past,

I was around others I felt were thriving so high that I felt an intense fear of being judged,

Which resulted in me producing very little art.

So these are a couple of my tips I learned along my journey to overcome perfection.

The first one is to just start.

Even if you don't have the tools,

Just start because we can only get better from here on out.

Second is don't take things too personal.

And I know it can be really hard,

But the reality is that people's judgments come from an insecure and battle within.

Sadly,

They're just projecting it onto us.

And people who are living in a loving and compassionate space are not going to judge you because they know how it is to really live in your passion and art.

So when you look at it like that,

Of course you want to really consider the opinions of the people who are living in that loving space.

So just really remember that.

I know it can be really hard,

But just remember that when you can.

And third is to practice an hour a day of whatever you love.

And I know for me this can be a challenge because I love to do so many different things,

But with the coronavirus and the time that we have,

An hour a day is nothing and that hour is a great way to get into it and we probably will end up working on it for so much more,

Longer than we anticipated,

Which is amazing.

The fourth one is to have inspirational and loving people to go to when you're down.

I know for me,

When I feel down,

I go to a meditation regarding whatever I feel challenged with.

Another one is Jay Shetty or Ralph Smart.

They always have really positive and motivating words and videos to look up.

And also it could just be your family or your friends or being around people who love you because when you're around them you feel more present in the moment and so you're not thinking about the past or the future.

The fifth one is creating that safe circle,

Which is very similar to the previous one,

But when I was living in an uncomfortable environment,

I really realized how uncomfortable I was now that I'm not there anymore.

And I really only had space for a bed and a yoga mat and like drawers and things like that,

But that was really all that I had.

And yoga and meditation is really close to my heart because when I was really stressed out and having a difficult time in my life,

That is the one place I could come and escape and be present in the moment and be okay with those emotions I was feeling.

So know that you can do that and again you can create,

Personalize your space with candles or decorations,

Which is also something I did.

Because I know that your environment is not always easy to change,

So just remember that you can create that safe circle wherever you are.

And with that is also having loving people around you.

I think it's so important and I know that it's not easy for everyone,

But I think that on a mental,

Like a high mental level,

It can really affect you if you don't have loving people around you consistently in some way because we as human beings really need love around us.

It's a necessity being a human,

So know that that's okay if you need that and that could be having a pet,

It could be calling your friends or family,

It could be having a friend over more so,

It could be about Skyping with your friend.

But just really creating that safe circle that you can be who you are because it's really important to express who you are and you feel really robbed when you can't be that.

So those are things that can help you with that.

The sixth one is remembering your intention.

For me,

Meditation has helped me so much and yoga and one of the reasons why I wanted to do it is because it helped me so much.

I wanted to be able to help other people,

But another reason is for me to grow and challenge myself.

So when I do meditations,

Sometimes they're scripted in some ways,

But I really want to challenge myself to go against perfection and I really want to improvise in some way and I want to be able to be okay with that and an insecurity of mine is not being able to speak clearly because I speak another language and I lost a lot of confidence as I was in an unhealthy environment.

So it's a way for me to gain it and just remembering that intention is really important when people maybe throw you off of your path,

Remember that and if you're helping people along the way,

That's really amazing.

It's amazing to be able to receive and give at the same time.

So the seventh one is breathe.

And for me,

Like when I'm doing my meditations,

Maybe sometimes I have difficulty breathing because I'm nervous,

But that's okay.

That's why I'm doing it.

That's why we all are doing it.

Because I deal with a lot of anxiety,

But it's helping me a lot and I hope that it can help you as well.

But remember,

Like if you're talking or whatever it is you do,

Just remember that you can take a breath.

You can stop and take that breath.

It's okay.

No one's going to judge you for it.

It's okay.

That's another reason why I really love meditation and yoga is because whatever you do that's not perfect,

It's okay.

It's about not being perfect in life and it's okay.

It's all okay.

We're okay.

We're perfect in that way.

We're perfectly imperfect.

You know what I mean?

So yeah,

Those are a couple of my tips.

Before I end this talk,

I just wanted to leave you with a quote from Jay Shetty.

He says,

What if Oprah listened to her haters and doubters?

What if Steve Jobs settled for a real job?

What if The Rock never broke through depression?

What if Ellen never overcame the bullying?

Imagine a world where everyone lived their passion.

We would be better people.

We would be better partners.

We would be better parents.

So I just thought I would share that and I want to thank you for showing up here with me today and think yourself.

Thank you and Namaste.

Thank you. I found this really helpful as I start two online art courses and have been very tense about them....being good enough, getting the work done, setting high standards.
