In a forest far,
Far away,
Where trees and sunflowers gently sway,
Lived a rabbit,
Quick and sly,
With a twinkle in his cheeky little eye.
He'd hop and race and dash and dart,
Always eager to jump at the day's fresh new start.
Catch me if you can,
He'd shout as he hopped all about.
One sunny day,
Along the way,
Rabbit met tortoise on his path.
The rabbit giggled,
You're so slow,
How do you ever get to where you need to go?
The tortoise smiled and nodded slow,
I take my time and I go with the flow.
The rabbit replied,
I have no time to sit and think or even rest my feet,
There are places to be and important people to meet.
The tortoise looked with a passion in his eyes.
Rabbit,
You race so fast,
You miss the days go by.
The smell of the blooming flowers,
The sweet melodies that the birds sing.
You're too busy hopping around,
You never stop to notice a thing.
The rabbit paused and scratched his head.
Are you saying that sometimes I need to slow down and I should stop instead?
I can't just sit and waste the day,
I want to have fun and play.
The tortoise chuckled,
It's not about stopping all the time.
It's not about stopping all of your fun,
But instead feeling free.
It's about finding peace in what you do and taking time to simply be.
It's about being mindful,
Taking care and breathing in the fresh forest air.
Slow down a bit and you will find so many moments of joy that you have left behind.
The sun will shine,
The breeze will blow,
But you must be silent and still to observe the show.
The rabbit thought and then agreed,
Perhaps I do rush more than I need.
Maybe there's wisdom in your pace,
I'll slow down instead of always trying to race.
So the rabbit tried to stay aware and true.
He noticed the golden sunsets and the skies so blue.
He took in all of the forest's wonders freshly anew.
The rabbit learned a lesson in mindfulness,
Slowing down and letting go.
He embraced the stillness in his body and mind as he watched the present.
And when he moved,
He moved with thoughtful care,
With mindful steps and love to share.
The tortoise smiled as wise ones often do,
For he knows how slowing down had helped himself too.
Now in the forest side by side,
The rabbit hopped and slowed down.
Now in the forest side by side,
The rabbit hopped and slowed down.
The tortoise walks at a steady pace.
Together they enjoy the beauties of this shared forest space.
