Felix the Phoenix takes flight by R. M. Bode. In the entire world there is only one Phoenix that can arise. This is the time in which Felix is the only Phoenix that flies. Felix is a Phoenix newly born out of the burning fire's light, About to embark on a 500 year journey of his life's fantastic flight. Felix spent his first 100 years flying all around the world searching mile after mile. He couldn't believe that he was the only Phoenix alive. He was in complete disillusion and denial. For the next 100 years Felix flew with anger and fury. Felix flew all over and finally landed in the sacred woods of Missouri. He was mad that he was all alone in this world with no others like him. Felix felt like an outcast as his inner light faded and grew dim. For the next 50 years Felix the Phoenix lived all alone at the sacred woods in peace. Felix felt that if he rested his energy his chances of meeting another Phoenix might increase. After 50 more years alone Felix was 300 years old. Felix felt sad and his heart grew more cold. Felix finally did accept that he was the only Phoenix alive. But he was no longer going to be depressed. He was going to thrive. For the next 200 years of his life Felix was to live the life that he had dreamed. He began to realize the world was not as lonely as it seemed. Felix thought that there may not be any other Phoenix's like he but this world is filled with other creatures with their own unique beauty. Felix once again took flight. His wisdom had grown and Felix had new understandings and insight. Felix met many different kinds of animals along his journey of discovery. All his new friends helped him come to a place of recovery. Felix the Phoenix learned that being different was a strength not a weakness. His world became filled with joy and possibilities freed from bleakness. Through his long journey Felix overcame many stages of grief. He was able to overcome his anger denial and disbelief. Felix the Phoenix finally flew with a flourishing light. Felix the Phoenix took flight with a floriferous might. Felix spent his last years learning and expanding his mind with the many magnificent creatures of the earth. At the age of 500 Felix returned to the fire allowing a new Phoenix to birth.
