Cheryl the Crow meets Ryan the Raven by R.

M.

Bode.

Crows and ravens famously don't get along.

Each bird dances its own dance and sings its own song.

This is a story that breaks the norms,

A tale that shows how friendship can appear in many forms.

Cheryl the Crow exhibits excellent communication and problem-solving skills.

Cheryl is a solitary bird,

Enjoying her time alone up on the ridgetop hills.

Ryan the Raven was searching for a new home far away from the city life.

A quiet place in nature to live natural and peaceful with much less strife.

On this one fateful day of January 23,

Cheryl and Ryan met when they landed on the same branch of a white oak tree.

Cheryl cawed and Ryan croaked back,

But they both stayed.

It seems they were more startled than they were afraid.

Cheryl had never met a raven before and Ryan had never met a crow.

They were both curious and their joy began to show.

For the next week or so,

Cheryl and Ryan met at the same tree every day.

The two pondered about life and all the possibilities at play.

Cheryl helped Ryan build a new nest and Ryan helped Cheryl put her mind at rest.

Cheryl and Ryan became the best of friends.

Their love for each other continues to grow and never ends.

Cheryl and Ryan learned many lessons together.

They realized that all birds are the same,

No matter the color of their beak or feather.

Years and years have gone by since Cheryl and Ryan met on that tree.

The two continue to enjoy their lives,

Flying sovereign and free.

If a crow and raven can get along,

Perhaps there are some other assumptions we've gotten wrong.

Remember,

It's okay to question what you don't know is true.

Sometimes the door is locked,

But there's an open window to fly through.

Thank you for listening to Cheryl and Ryan's story.

Have a wonderful day and a restful night.

May all of your heart's desires,

Hopes and dreams take flight.
