Five Acred Wood Fables,

Bodhi Bear and Charlie by R.

M.

Bodhi.

Bodhi is a brown bear who lives in the forest foothills of the Himalayan mountain range.

Bodhi Bear lived life as a loner until the fateful day when that all began to change.

Bodhi Bear was foraging in the forest for berries and roots.

Along with fishing,

These are among his most favorite pursuits.

Bodhi Bear heard a strange cry he had never heard before.

He followed the cries until he came face to face with this creature on the forest floor.

Bodhi Bear wasn't sure at first what he was looking at,

But as he got closer he saw it was just a little black cat.

For hours Bodhi Bear looked all around,

But there were no other cats to be found.

Bodhi Bear thought he couldn't just leave this cat here all alone at night,

So he placed the baby cat in his paw and held on tight.

Bodhi Bear brought his new companion back to his cozy den.

He figured he'd keep the cat safe until the morning and figure out what next to do then.

The cat began to purr as he felt safe and secure.

Bodhi Bear wondered what hardships this little cat must have had to endure.

The next morning Bodhi Bear woke up with his cat companion sleeping on his chest.

He thought he better let him sleep a little longer.

He must need his rest.

The cat finally awoke with a yawn.

You're awake,

Bodhi Bear said.

It's time to get our breakfast on.

Bodhi Bear wasn't sure what this cat would even eat,

But he figured some fresh water from the lake would be a welcomed treat.

Bodhi Bear caught a salmon and began to eat.

His new cat companion shared this fresh nutritious treat.

Bodhi Bear said,

Okay I guess it's time for a name I suppose.

Hmm how about Charlie?

The cat meowed and that's the name that they chose.

As some time went on Charlie began to rapidly grow.

He was no longer the helpless little cat from a few weeks ago.

Charlie was not some little house cat as it were.

Bodhi Bear began to realize this when he saw the rosettes in Charlie's fur.

Charlie is a panther,

One of the most powerful big cats in the wild,

But right now he is still just a growing young child.

Charlie looked at Bodhi Bear as his father and Bodhi Bear treated Charlie as his son.

Together through the years they have enjoyed so much laughter,

Companionship,

Love,

And fun.

Charlie has grown almost four times in size.

He has come far from that baby cat with meek little cries.

Charlie and Bodhi Bear go on expeditions every day.

They always make time for hiking,

Fishing,

And play.

Family isn't always blood you see.

Family is about those who care for you with love unconditionally.

Thank you for listening to the Five Acre Wood Fables,

Bodhi Bear and Charlie.

Much love,

Bodhi.
