Morning meditation,
While seated,
Take a moment and allow your mind to meet and settle by focusing on your breath.
Make no change,
Just notice where you are in this moment,
Notice your unaltered natural breathing.
You could be seated on the side of your bed with your feet on the ground or sitting on the floor with your legs crossed or extended.
On your next inhale,
Raise your shoulders and let them fall with the exhale.
Let's do this for a few breaths,
Inhaling,
Raising your shoulders and exhaling,
Allowing them to fall.
Inhaling a little bit deeper,
Raising your shoulders,
Shoulders up,
And slowly exhale,
Dropping your chin down to your chest while also dropping your shoulders.
Turn your head in circles,
Do gentle circles with your head,
Completing your exhale with your chin to your chest.
Do this for a few breaths while slowly releasing any tension left in the shoulders.
Pause with your chin to your chest on your next exhale,
And turn your head in the opposite direction,
Nice and slow.
On the next inhale,
Raise your arms above you and tilt your head slightly back.
Exhale slowly as you bring your hands together,
Palm to palm,
Leveling your chin parallel to the ground.
Take a few natural,
Unaltered breaths here,
Your intention for the energy you wish to carry throughout the day.
Ease and grace is my personal favorite.
As you sit,
Gently blink your eyes open,
Looking into the space in front of you.
Breathe fully and hold for a moment,
And then exhale sharply.
Bring your arms together,
Breathing in,
Exhaling sharply.
Fully.
As you bring your hands,
Arms out wide to the sides and back,
Opening the chest.
Inhale.
Exhale.
Through your mouth,
Exhale forcefully.
Fully bringing your arms to embrace yourself.
Four times.
Inhaling through your mouth,
Opening your arms out and back,
Opening the chest,
And exhaling,
Bringing your arms back.
Release your arms and go back to your natural breath.
Allow your mind to focus and settle on your intention.
With grace and ease,
Take a few natural breaths and begin to imagine light traveling through your body from the base of your spine,
Flowing over your spine all the way up through the top of your head.
Imagine,
While still breathing naturally,
That this light comes through the top of your head and flows down around you like a fountain,
Trickling over your entire body as water would,
Covering your scalp,
Your face,
The back of your neck,
Your shoulders,
Arms and chest,
Flowing down over your belly and back,
Over your thighs and legs.
Covering every inch of your body down to your feet.
Imagine that light collecting as a pool at the soles of your feet,
Cooling or warming your feet,
Whichever is more soothing.
Take a slow breath in and imagine,
As you breathe a single in-breath,
That same pool of light entering the bottoms of your feet,
Making that same journey as before,
Traveling up the base of the spine all the way through the top of your head.
Pause and slowly exhale,
Imagining,
As you breathe a single exhalation,
That light traveling down all over your body,
Down your face,
Neck,
Arms,
Down to your feet,
Collecting to a pool at the soles of your feet.
Repeat this breath of light,
Traveling your breath and the light up through the soles of your feet to the top of your head and exhaling your breath and the light down,
Covering your body,
Back to your little pool of light.
Repeat this three times more.
And exhaling down.
Inhaling the light up.
And exhaling the light down.
Inhaling the light up.
And exhaling the light down.
At your last pool of light,
Pause and go back to breathing your natural breaths.
Notice here what your body feels like now,
That you've activated every cell with the light of your intention.
Grace and ease.
Slowly begin to wiggle your fingers and your toes,
Allow movement back into your arms and your legs.
Take one more slow breath as you open your eyes.
Go on and enjoy your day and remind yourself throughout of the intention you set.
What energy will you carry with you today?
Use your breath of light at any moment as your gentle reminder.
