Broadrake is a historic property dating back to the 17th century, nestled in the Yorkshire Dales National Park at the base of Whernside, Yorkshire's highest point and one of the renowned Three Peaks. Situated within the dispersed community of Chapel-le-Dale, with the closest village, Ingleton, located about 4 or 5 miles away, Broadrake offers a picturesque setting steeped in natural beauty and outdoor activities. The property is ideally positioned along a popular bridleway frequented by mountain bikers and walkers, particularly those embarking on the Whernside round from Ribblehead or the Dales High Way long-distance walk. The area is also a hotspot for caving, botany, and geology, with the Ingleborough National Nature Reserve and Whernside SSSI providing exceptional landscapes and scientific interest. Mike and Rachel Benson, who moved to Broadrake in 2011 from Harrogate, have since transformed the old barn into bunkbarn accommodation for groups or individuals and host various craft workshops throughout the year. Additionally, they have embarked on an ecological project by planting 600 native trees behind the house and developing a wildflower meadow, enhancing the biodiversity of the area. This ongoing project aims to eventually open up the space for public enjoyment, allowing others to experience the beauty and tranquility of Broadrake.
