Located on the southwestern coast between the vibrant hubs of Hikkaduwa and Galle, Rathgama is a serene village known for its unique blend of coastal beauty and tranquil inland waterways. The town is defined by the expansive Rathgama Lake, a sprawling brackish lagoon dotted with tiny islets, including the historic Island Hermitage, a renowned forest monastery where Buddhist monks have meditated in seclusion for over a century.
