How To Reduce Stress And Anxiety?
by Raman Mittal
In this talk, Raman explains how to reduce stress and anxiety by understanding their root cause. When you become attached to an outcome, stress and anxiety are bound to happen. When your sense of self depends on an outcome, when you feel the need to control what happens, stress becomes inevitable. The real question is: What are you trying to control? And can you really control that outcome? This talk invites you to go beyond surface-level solutions and understand how your stress and anxiety actually begin, so you can work for its relief in a more sustainable way. In this talk, you’ll learn: - Why your attempts to reduce stress don’t last - What actually creates stress and anxiety - How control and expectation increase anxiety If you’ve been trying to work on your day-today stress but still feel stuck, this perspective may help you see things clearly.

Good morning,
Good afternoon,
Good evening.
So one of the most common questions that we get.
Is how to control stress,
Anxiety,
How to get rid of stress,
Anxiety.
What to do and there are many many practices.
If you just do a quick search on Google,
YouTube.
Even Instagram.
Which is the cause of stress.
One of the biggest causes of stress.
Note that YouTube is not.
But then you'll find many many techniques many people talking about stress how to release it how to what to do when you're stressful what to do when you're anxious many meditations as well.
Pranayama is very helpful.
Many meditation techniques are very helpful.
When we do pranayama,
It basically activates our parasympathetic nervous system.
That releases good hormones.
And calms down our nervous system.
And there are many meditation techniques.
Most meditations will help you in some way.
Doh!
Get out of stress and anxiety.
So I'm not really going to talk about what practices should you follow or techniques you can practice.
To reduce stress in your life.
More importantly.
What is the root cause?
That's more important,
Isn't it?
These things will certainly help but will momentarily for maybe for few moments or maybe some brief period of time will take you out of anxiety and stress maybe calm down your nervous system calm down your body calm down your senses and you'll feel relaxed,
You'll feel more in control,
Grounded.
But let's try to understand.
What is truly.
The root cause and unless and until we work on the root cause we understand the root cause and more than understanding we see the root cause.
We can't be free of it.
We can't be free of stress.
We can't be free of anxiety.
Unless and until we see the root cause,
We can't be free of stress and anxiety.
I'll repeat it once again.
Unless and until we see the root cause of anxiety and stress,
We can't be free from it.
So what is the root cause?
Is it that we are too identified?
With certain outcome,
With controlling future.
Controlling life.
For example,
I am giving a presentation.
And I obviously.
It to go.
Everybody should appreciate me.
Or I should win a lottery.
Or I should get a promotion.
Or I should?
My kid should get an admission in a certain school.
Over.
I must win this business deal.
My beingness,
My This sense of self is invested,
Is identified.
With certain outcomes.
That and that outcome when we think of outcome it is always in future.
If my sense of self is.
.
.
Dependent on it.
Then I will get anxious because my sense of self is dependent on it.
It's quite simple,
Isn't it?
And somebody can argue what's wrong with that.
Nothing wrong with that.
But you need to see what is the root cause of your stress.
That's actually that.
It's actually quite simple.
Now something is giving you stress.
And anxiety.
Would you want to keep it?
Yes,
Of course.
Because.
.
.
Our sense of self wants to be bigger,
Better.
And that takes precedence over peace.
It's a choice.
Actually a choice.
You are choosing to be stressful.
For your own decisions,
Because of your own decisions,
Because of your own choices.
Of course,
All these decisions and choices are unconscious.
And that's why we are talking about it.
And that's why we said we focused,
We emphasized.
Almost shouted that unless and until we see it as a reason.
See it,
Not believe,
Actually see it.
Then the grip of that identification lozens when we see it.
If we,
Okay,
After this,
I mean,
That doesn't really happen,
But hypothetically,
You see this video and you say,
Oh,
I get it now.
Don't make it another belief.
That will not take.
You anywhere and will not help in any manner.
It is your seeing.
Very clearly.
The actual root cause.
Of your stress and anxiety.
We live in future.
We want to control.
We want to live in certainty.
We want security.
That's how Our mind has developed over millions of years.
We want security.
So,
Of course,
We need physical security,
All of us.
We need food.
We need shelter.
We need physical biological security.
But do we need psychological security?
But all are efforts the entire Life.
Is spent on.
Securing that security,
That certainty,
Certain outcome.
So identified with it.
And many people start meditation.
With some assumption with some some notions and when they realize that it requires almost demands.
For you to look at the root cause.
Which is nowhere else but you yourself.
They leave it in between.
Be Renavie.
Many many people.
Many many people.
Because even meditation in many cases.
Is a means to achieve what we want.
And we don't really look at ourselves.
The root cause.
Now you may ask,
Now how do we function?
That's a common question.
Rebuttal or question.
And maybe we can take this up in some another talk,
But I'll still maybe talk for a moment on this.
When we are completely identified with something,
We don't really have a choice.
We don't really feel grounded.
We don't really feel in control.
We are too consumed in the stress and anxiety that comes along with it.
Wanting certainty,
Wanting a certain outcome,
Wanting to control life.
And We actually… don't really take seen decisions.
And then it becomes a vicious circle.
Loop that we are caught in.
So when we in fact write action or action is possible.
When we are not completely identified with what we want.
There is some distance.
And sense of self is not entirely trapped.
And dependent on something.
Then we are actually we are able to take same decisions.
Evaluate of possible options.
So whenever stress and anxiety comes.
Take a deep breath.
And maybe look for.
What is that you want to save.
Your pride.
What is that you are saving?
What is that you are?
You desperately want,
In a certain way,
A certain outcome.
See how you are dependent on it.
And again,
You may see what's wrong with that.
And just one last point before we.
Goop.
You may.
Release.
Look back.
How many things in life are you ACTUALLY doing?
Able to control.
And I'm sure we are going to talk about it a lot more in maybe another video.
Other videos,
Other talks.
Just think about it.
That's another row.
Notion that you that you actually can control your life.
All right so I know I didn't really give any magical bond to you.
Doom.
Help you get out of stress and anxiety.
Actually I did.
When you see the root cause.
You are out of it.
At least.
Some bit of it.
The clearer you see.
The more you are out of it.
And that's meditation.
