Welcome to an inner child meditation.

We'll take time now to reconnect to this part of ourself inside that reflects some of our most vulnerable,

Precious,

Tender,

Sweet,

Open aspects of ourself.

It'll be a journey back through time.

To begin,

Allow yourself to find rest.

Wherever you may be,

Close your eyes,

Sit back or lie down.

The body settles and you breathe in through the nose and out through the mouth.

Another breath in through the nose and out the mouth.

Allowing now the jaw to close,

Lips to close.

And with every exhalation through the nose,

Feeling more stress melt away,

More tension dissolve.

The body grow heavier as you sink down into this place right here.

Heavy in the limbs,

The arms and legs,

The seat in the back.

A whole face is expressionless,

Smooth in the forehead,

Loosen the jaw and cheeks down through the throat.

From the crown of the head to the soles of the feet,

The whole body relaxes.

There's a sense of ease,

Breathing in ease,

Breathing out worry.

Take in this moment,

You at this very age,

What are you wearing?

What is your scent?

How do you smell?

How is your hair?

What do you notice about yourself,

Your physical being right now at this very age?

Whatever you're noticing,

Holding it with an interest,

Curiosity,

Love,

Compassion,

Gratitude,

Gratitude,

Acceptance.

And we begin our journey backwards from this moment through time,

Your most recent major life events.

Back to the time when you were in school,

See yourself growing younger and younger,

Stopping there at any age you choose,

Perhaps five or six or a little bit older or a little bit younger and see this child,

This little boy or this little girl,

What did they look like?

How's their hair?

What does it smell like around them?

What are they wearing?

What are they wearing?

Where are they?

Greet this child,

This younger part of yourself in any way that feels most natural.

Say hello and hear their response.

As you witness this child,

You feel unconditional acceptance for all of their experiences.

I imagine beside this child,

This little boy or this little girl,

A screen like a small movie screen or TV screen,

It's gray and clouded over.

Imagining on this screen from this little boy or girl's life,

The images,

The moments,

The feelings of despair or sorrow when they felt lost or alone,

Afraid,

Like their needs weren't met or they weren't seen or they weren't safe.

Reliving a few of those moments,

Feeling what that child may still feel,

And hearing some of the beliefs that were formed,

That thought that they were keeping the child safe.

I can't trust anyone.

I'm not good enough.

I'm not lovable.

I'm not safe.

I'm not safe.

Hear those stories and turn towards that child,

That sweet precious child,

And look deep into their eyes as they look back,

Noticing whatever emotions arise.

Put a hand on their shoulder or give them a hug or feel them crawl up into your lap.

Hold them.

Give them physical contacts of reassurance and say,

You are safe.

You are good enough.

You are lovable.

You are perfect.

You are perfect.

Soothing the sweet child with reassurance and witness,

Unconditional acceptance.

Breathing deeply,

Your energy of presence is a soothing healing balm.

This child who is afraid or scared,

Who felt alone or abandoned,

Now feels protected and held,

Supported.

Look again into the child's eyes,

Giving and receiving love back.

And imagine on the other side of the child,

Another screen.

And here are all kinds of memories from childhood that were full of wonder and delight,

Joy,

Connection,

Freedom,

Play,

Wonderment,

Seeing and recalling,

Feeling into these moments.

Where this child felt light,

Carefree,

Unafraid,

Courageous,

Loved,

Supported.

Recalling,

Witnessing the profound childlike wonder and joy at being alive,

At the sense of possibility.

Hearing this child's laughter,

Squeals of delight.

Taking this child's hands and expressing the sense of freedom and joy and play in whatever way feels most natural for the two of you.

Laughter,

Smiles,

Bright eyes,

Carefree,

Full of wonder,

Possibility.

Looking again into this child's eyes,

Thanking this child for reminding you of what it feels like to be playful.

To have no expectations,

To feel joy.

Connect to your own breath and breathe in that joy.

Into your heart,

Thanking this child for their time,

For always being with you.

This child knows that you care for them,

That they are safe,

That they are welcome,

And that they are loved.

Journeying back through time,

Feeling a renewed sense of lightness and freedom.

Back to this moment,

And here you are.

This child is always within you.

The sense of openness,

Generosity,

Delight is always within you.

Whenever you tap into it.

Another deep breath in this child's eyes,

Another deep breath in through the nose and out through the mouth.

And as you blink your eyes open,

Seeing the space around you with a renewed sense of wonder,

Joy,

And delight.

So so so so

Really nice...I was about 7 on my banana seat bike with the neighborhood kids sitting looking at a rainbow with them as we watched the sun shine while it rained....it was Colombo’s Ohio. That’s such a precious, vivid memory. Ty. I’m in my 50s now. I really appreciated this meditation💙🙏
