Once upon a time there was a woman who allowed herself to be loved.
She didn't run from it,
She didn't dismiss it,
She didn't exploit it,
She didn't presume on it,
She received it.
Into her life had come a man who offered his love freely,
With no thought of gain for himself.
He didn't choose her because she was rich or beautiful or could do something for him,
He simply loved her.
He adored her from the tips of her toes to the top of her head.
He loved the subtle nuances of her face and the way her hair fell.
He loved her right through her skin to her gentle heart.
And of course he loved her bottom.
He loved all her faults and foibles too,
Not with the temporary forgiveness of physical passion,
But because he saw through those small shadows to the beauty of her being.
The truth was she couldn't understand why he left her so being inexperienced with this kind of blessing.
She knew hardness far better since previously the men in her life,
Her father,
Brothers and husband,
Now ex,
Had been critical and demanding to the point of cruelty.
Perhaps they hadn't meant it,
Perhaps they were just terrified of the female and their own gentle feelings and relatedness.
For the society in which they lived was organized around power,
So loneliness and hostility were the norm,
Although there was pious posturing around social and environmental concerns.
Such lip service fooled a lot of people,
But this woman had been incapable of not understanding its origins.
She tried to pull herself out of it by knocking on the hearts of the men in her life,
Trying to make contact,
Willing to sacrifice all of herself just to make contact,
And she got nowhere except very close to death,
Like some endangered species whose value is crucial but unseen.
But a woman can have the strength of mother nature if she chooses,
And this woman decided to live deeply and in truth,
So she turned and stopped her old patterns in their tracks,
These patterns of trying to please numbed and dangerous males in a power-based society.
And then she saw how deeply etched those patterns were within her own psyche.
It was terrifying for her simply because she knew no other way of being,
But she persevered,
Tracing the origins of her behavior over and over until all the levels were cleared,
And she saw clearly the lie of it,
The misbelief that somehow it was safer to comply with sickness rather than being true to herself.
Refusing to persevere in her old way created a vacuum,
And in that vacuum space she began to forgive them and to forgive herself,
And she began to trust her instinctive female nature and honor it.
This was the key,
Although it took effort and care and longing for many generations in her family had lived in that old painful manner,
But maybe it was that she dared,
That she dared to trust herself and receive the love of the Great Spirit so deeply that allowed someone on earth to move as close to her as this man did.
For he did move close,
Gently and with regard he found her tired heart,
And as he did so his own heart flamed in great tenderness for admiration.
This woman so true to her only tell you all the changes that occurred on earth because a man dared to truly love a woman who in this case was able to deeply receive it,
But it would make this story far too long.
Once I dreamt that Mother Nature became healthier and more beautiful and the stars in the sky more aligned as a result of this kind of human love.
The couples say they feel the truth of that in every breath they take.
