If we think of our Hearts as a garden, as an organic plot that needs tending, we start to get an image of the delicate balance in our lives of our Humanness & our Divinity. If we are piling manure on top of the flowers instead of placing it properly at the roots, we ruin the fragrance. In the west, our concept of value is largely equated with material wealth, success, fame, etc. We may look around and feel that we earn only a modest paycheck, our dreams have not come true and even our postman can't remember our name. It may seem like we are a failure, that we have somehow lost the game. However, once we recognize that our value was never something we had to earn or prove, the whole thing shifts. In this clip, Premasudha tells the story of her two uncles as a cautionary tale of the importance of how we speak to ourselves.

Okay,

There's another thing I want to talk about,

Which is,

And it's connected to how you think of yourself.

And I call it,

I'm going to call it the tale of two uncles.

I had two uncles.

There was one who was very,

You know,

Kind of to the manor born kind of guy.

Very,

Oh,

Mr.

Success,

Always had the best car,

Always,

I don't know,

Had a lot of money,

You know,

Talked about his wealth a lot,

Blah,

Blah,

Blah.

And I had another uncle who always kind of felt and acted a bit like a failure,

You know,

Like he didn't,

The way he stood,

He didn't,

He didn't,

He was insecure,

You know,

He'd been a blue baby,

Had trouble breathing at birth.

He didn't,

Yeah,

He didn't have a lot of self-esteem.

Okay,

So when they died,

The guy who had the,

Not great self-esteem,

But actually more money than the other guy.

And I just thought that's so interesting.

He had more money,

But you,

He acted like he was not as good.

And I thought to myself,

We can do this.

We can do this.

You know,

We can act like we're not much.

We're really aware of our flaws,

Doubt ourselves.

I mean,

And money's not the great measure,

But I'm just,

You know,

I was a little kid and I noticed this,

I saw this,

And I noticed the difference between the two.

And,

You know,

I didn't like either one of them that much,

But it's just,

I just noticed that one guy was just,

Got a lot of cute eyes,

A lot of respect,

And the other guy didn't,

But they're both,

But the one who didn't get a lot of respect actually had more money when he died.

So it's just,

You guys just watch what you tell yourselves.

Watch how you hold yourselves.

Yeah,

Watch what you tell yourselves.

Like,

I don't know what this guy told himself that he felt so bad.
